The Ethiopian team will also be heavily impacted by the result of this race. I am hoping for Bekele to win. Anyone got any other bets? Dark horse in my opinion is Mateiko

Indeed confusing. If it weren't for his Barcelona HM win his performances have been sub-par thus far this year and I'd worry the contract or lack thereof was affecting his training.
Lisbon HM announced some elites (Abraham Kiptum!?) so that's out but Berlin would be great vs Ebenyo but don't see it necessarily happening.
The way I see the Kenyan men's 10000 likely hood of qualifying right now is something like:
1. Ebenyo.....2. Kipkorir Kimeli.....3. Sawe
4.Waithaka....5. Kibet Koech......6. Kandie
7. Benson Kiplangat....8. Emmanuel Kiplagat....9.Weldon Langat....10. Samwel Masai
Not including Richard Etir or others I think may favour the 5000 but I may be forgetting someone
Unrelated to this thread overall, but quite a shakeup in this now.
I'd say the top 3 looks on the money (given Sawe's great HM), but you'd have to move Kiplangat ahead of Waithaka, and Masai probably as well. Kandie a complete wild card (what's he done the last month-plus?), and Edwin Kurgat has entered the mix as well.

Will they have ratified Assefa's WR by then? Her bio passport must not be an issue if London included her in the field.
How long does it take to ratify somebody and can she race such a major without?

I hope Bekele wins but he can definitely be in the top five. A good race would put him in third place and second if someone falters, but I'm excited for this race.
