Why wouldn't she? She has nothing to lose and $$$ to gain. Remember how much money she turned down in 2023 as an amateur? She gets to pocket it now. Even 4th is $1,500 and 5th is $1,000. I believe she can get top-5 30 minutes after the 800.
It sure is too bad I can't watch any of it because it is on USATF.TV. Maybe I should watch Grant Fisher run?? Oh wait I need a Flotrack subscription.
We are ruining the sport by not having any cover should be on NBC sports or something.
Is the HJ (both men and women) now the worst events in the USA? Only 1 women can get the standard for World indoor and at the start of the meet no men had it. OK Harrison did medal last summer in the men's HJ but the rest of the US men are very weak. On the women's side Cunningham had never been in the running for an Olympic or World outdoor medal and seems to have been jumping the same heights for years
Cunningham actually has two World Indoor medals, including gold, and a World Outdoor bronze, plus a pr of 2.02m and several years of 2.00 meter jumps in addition. So, it's true that she didn't develop very much from where she first burst into the American scene at 1.97m but she did break the elusive 2m barrier on numerous occasions. She jumped 2.02m in 2021.
