Yeah think about that math. To win 500 games you have to win 25 games per season for 20 straight years. Last time someone won 25 games in a season was 1990.

Gotta go with Joey Chestnut. His consumption of 76 hot dogs in 2021 at Nathan's Famous is still the world record. The last two years he slacked off into the 60s, and I'm afraid he's losing his mojo. There doesn't appear to be anyone close to him so I think the 76 hot dogs will stand the test of time.

Agreed. The only way this record gets broken is if something fundamentally changes in either the rules of the game, frequency of games played, equipment modifications (ex: ball more responsive to applied rotational forces), new improved accepted or untraceable performance enhancing drugs, better methods to improve longevity, changes in the basic game strategies, the field layout and/or configuration, etc., and, likely, more than one of these or other factors.

Lots or records being listed that are untouchable due to rule changes etc...
Maybe a list for records that are fairly comparable across eras, a list for records that are so doped they are untouchable, and records that are impossible to beat due to rule changes etc...
I think Michaela Shiffrin's record as it is now, which she could add 10-50 wins to if healthy, will be crazy hard to beat. It requires massive win percentage, domination in one event, and excellence in at least 2 or 3 other disciplines, start winning as a teenager, AND almost no season ending injuries for a decade at least. She hit the lottery.
How many Golds did Shawn White win in half pipe? Like 4 of his 5 olympics worth? 15 golds in olympics and worlds. And a gold in summer worlds as well. Michael Phelps also was a gamer, extremely timely, and healthy and had a high win percentage too. That one is tough. About 2 dozen just Gold.
Gretzky's point total- If you gave all his 894 goals to Alex Ovechkin (or anyone else), who is closest to breaking his goals record, Ovi would still be massively behind Wayne in points. His point total is 33% higher than 2nd place and in way less games.
But I also like the women's doped 400 answer! Stares us in the face every 4 yrs. And winning 8 TDF titles doped is hard to imagine with all the variables.
