and whenever Satan's face flashes briefly on the screen in the exorcist
The final scene from the Hitchcock classic 'The Birds' when the Rod Taylor drives that little sports car off into the distance while the house and yard are FULL of birds.
[man those weird bird sounds]
I was uneasily watching the crows on the telephone line while waiting for the school bus outside my house for 4 days after I saw that one in 3rd grade.
WOW.
I ran that scene in slow motion on the VCR. REAL freaky stuff indeed!
The Exorcism of Emily Rose: the f*ed up girl's hallucinations are messed up and they pop up without warning too
Pre finishing fourth in the Olympics!!
hostel, several parts but most notably the part with the eyeball
i cannot believe anyone mentioned signs. i'm not sure which of shamylan's movies is worse, signs or the village. two or the worst movies i have ever seen, neither of which elicited any type of fear at all, just stupidity.
signs was respectable......village was terrible.
hostel - good call on the eyeball, that was almost unwatchable.
im a Horror movie fan big time. i have seen them all..the old ones the new ones...you name it. Im surprised to see no one has mentioned, in is what my opinion the scariest scene in a movie ever and that is 1993's FIRE IN THE SKY. the scene where D.B. Sweney's character flashes back to when he is on the alien ship. If you havent seen it and just reading another ole' "alien crap review" i highly suggest you watching the movie. that scene is terrifying, cause the torture is crazy and you couldnt possibly imagine going through that. not to mention the movie in general is just creepy....

When George W. Bush announced himself the winner of the 2004 Election
any scene from IT. That clown really scares me.
"Psycho" anyone?
The shower scence is absolutely terrifying, but I actually wanted to yell at the girl not to go down into the cellar when she finds Mrs. Bates.
People left the theater weeping. That's pretty powerful stuff.
The Exorcist - when the girl turns her head all the way around...

pablo, if you thought Jeepers Creepers was scary, you've been sampling too much of your product, amigo.
Huh? All I said was we had no idea what you were talking about. You didn't mention a movie or anything.
Full Metal Jacket, when the Marine goes suicidal in the bathroom. Holy Shit!
"7 6 2 millemeter Full Metal Jacket" *bang*
"No!"
the blow torch to the eyeball scene in 'hostel'
Made me cringe.
Along with the arm scene from requiem for a dream.
I was maybe ten or eleven years old, and my parents took me to see the EXORCIST! WTF were they thinking? It's still pretty messed up when the crucifix starts bleeding.
I think Nightmare on Elm Street was good because if the premise got to you, then you're not even safe in your dreams.
There are mutliple Exorcist scenes that I'd rather not watch by myself at night.
Another one nobody mentioned yet is the scene from Pet Sematary where the possessed toddler pops out and slices the old guy's achilles tendon with a scalpel. It makes you jump and then it really grosses you out at the same time.
And somebody mentioned the scene from Sematary where the door opens and the wife's sister with spina bifida (spelled wrong I'm sure) is lying on the bed and growling. That was f***ing creepy.
"I AM in a world of shit ..."
