Every runner should have to pay a one-time flat-fee to get in. Say $100. As one poster noted you HAVE to get money upfront to pay for the crazy high expenses it costs to put on a race. Give $1 back for each minute under 3-hours. Pay $1 for every minute over 3-hours with a cap at $300 total. No one will pay over that. DNF simply owes the full $300.

What about doing this with a shorter race? Like a 5k? $25 to run it. $1 for every minute under 25 minutes. Pay $1 for every minute over 25 minutes. Cap it at $50.

$150 or $200 entry fee for everybody. The Dollar-a-Minute challenge is that you get $1 cash back for every minute under 4 hours. Adjust the 4 hours for sex category and age category.

Plans have now been set in motion.

Expect to see a race held in New Braunfels, Texas sometime this Spring.

This will be a 5K as a proof of concept and if it goes well, I will develop a marathon.

no, but I would be okay with formally changing the formal definition of running a marathon to mean running 26.2 miles in under (180 + your age in years) minutes for men and (200 + your age in years) minutes for women.

Our sport needs strict nomenclature like this, enforceable by law. There should be a legal difference between the definition of 26.2 miles and the Marathon.

So, anyone can say that they have run 26.2 miles no matter how slow they cover the distance. But to LEGALLY say that they have run the MARATHON, they need to meet your standards,

And anyone who cannot perform up to the standards of this formal definition should be forced at apply a (26.2) bumper sticker to their car as a badge of shame.

A rage-enter would look like someone trying to win the race or place in an age group just so they could get the opportunity to SLAP the race director as he tries to put the medal around their neck.

As the race director, I would love to get slapped during the awards ceremony as I congratulated the runner. THINK OF THE PUBLICITY!!!
