Muhammad Ali was what? Look what he did for boxing. Elvis was different look what he did for the music world. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair made a huge impact on the biz.
The girl brings something to talk about that is she has how many threads?
Shacarri makes it interesting because she displays all characteristics that we as humans despise. She is selfish, narcissistic, and unintelligent. The worst thing that could happen from Shacarri having any kind of success is that a single child would view her as a role model.
None of Shacarri's attributes are attributes that we teach children in sports. Track is not about being 'entertaining'. It stands on its own merits by the nature of the sport.
As a society we need to raise up those who display qualities we wish value. If that includes Allyson Felix and Sydney McLaughlin, then fantastic.
I don't look to sprinters to be anything other than entertaining, don;t care how intelligent they are and do expect a sprinter to be narcissistic and selfish, nature of the beast.
Bottom line is take to kids to a sporting event to have some fun, she is fun, that is why she gets how many threads out there? As we totally ignore everyone else else, that says it all right there.
You say she is good for the sport. That’s a fine assertion, but you need to be able to support it with facts. Maybe there is a statistically significant increase in viewership with her racing, I just haven’t seen those numbers. She had a controversial news cycle ahead of the Olympics and since then I’m not sure people who never watched track have tuned in to watch her run.
What sprinter are we talking about, she has how many threads out there, why?
Stop dodging the question. Threads here mean nothing. I didn’t tune in to watch her. You say she’s good the sport and I say she’s made no discernible difference to the sport in the area that it matters: viewership. You can’t rebut my point so you move the goalposts to something as irrelevant as threads on a obscure running forum. No one cares about her, outside of the fringe minority of people who follow track. She’s a net neutral figure in running.
SCR out of the 100, good. Now we can focus on real athletes without the distraction. Maybe Steiner should have competed—with SCR out, she had a fair shot at a relay spot.
Even if SCR tries the 2, she will die. Her last 200m was horrible.
WTF is with her? Did Gatlin have any insight?
Maybe she is running “clean” because she knows that she in particular will be under scrutiny. How many times have I said on this board that she is an 11.3 talent, and BAM 💥 11.31 (0.4). If that is the case, there is no shame in that.
Steiner wants to do big things in the 200. While she would have had a better than average chance of qualifying for the 100, she really has a singular focus right now. She isn’t saying so because she is much too humble but she wants to beat Gabby in the worst way.
Speaking of relays, can the coaches pick whomever they want? I thought that even though Steiner did not run in the 100 she could still be picked for the 4x100 if the coaches wanted her. She could also be picked for the 4x400, for that matter and, in actuality, the 4x400 is probably the better option for her.
I remember being 22, trust me ya know nothing at 22 compared to where you are at 32.
Young girl who has all of us talking about her, yep , an interesting athlete and interesting story that is why none of the other ladies get any attention at all, they are just another sprinter, the same old thing.
Yeah well most sprinters aren’t in the top 3 at 32. While the “other ladies” are advancing to the podium, the “interesting athlete” with negative attention goes home devastated. I’d rather be the Other lady

You compared Richardson to Ali and Presley. At 22, Ali was already an Olympic gold medalist and knocked out Sonny Liston to become world heavyweight champion. At the same age, Elvis was a best-selling music artist and movie star.
I’ve been involved with track and field for most of my life and even though I love the sport. We all know that awkward feeling when watching someone showboat in track and field it’s most of the time a sprinter. Y’all know that awkward feeling like you wish you weren’t there seeing it. She acts like that, that overzealous attitude that makes you feel embarrassed for them. I can’t stand that about our sport. I can’t stand that showboating awkward a$$ feeling while watching the sport I love. Just run fast and keep it moving bruh
Felix went on a talk show last year and said something along the lines of hoping she has some support/role model.
Sha'carri made a great point in response: Felix has never tried to reach out to her, talk to her, mentor her, or show any hint she cares about Richardson. Yet put a camera in Felix's face, and she's all about caring and supporting her. Does Felix have to mentor Richardson? No, but if Felix wants to market herself as the Mom and carer of all of USATF, she should do that.
Felix is fake and plays with the media.
Richardson says what most of her competitors think anyway. Also, if you watch any of her press conferences in full rather than just the headlines and sound bites you'll realise she isn't a fast mouthed as everyone thinks she is.
Slow down my man, what if she shows up big in the 200m, now what?
Track needs more athletes like her and less like Allyson Felix who bores me to tears, give us somebody to talk about, yep....just like we are doing now.
Mike Farmer wore one long black sock and stood a few feet out in front of his blocks, He made it very clear.....look a me. So what do see want to see, yep, hope he loses. He rarely did back then in his HS days.
Track needs characters, we have that wit this wee smoker, I like it.
I saw her at the NYC Continental Tour, no one had the amount of fans she had. In terms of popularity, T&F is not the NFL or even MLS. We need colorful personalities.
I want what is best for the sport, trust me it is not.....here is Allyson with her daughter, it is however a weed smoker all decked out in some funky out fit.
I;d much rather watch Richardson compete than Felix.
There's the problem. Felix competed. Richardson not so much.
She's been a flake. When you have the talent. Get done fir doping, then run slower, you're done.

Perfect description. I know we have to have this type of athlete in sport, but it makes me appreciate class and tact. This person is stuck in the ego centric predicament. A great athlete/talent but lost.
Felix have no obligation to offer that role, lol. Hoping, and giving the advice to get a role model is a lot more than just not caring.
Who else would you suggest should be the role model? Allyson Felix is one of the only people in the world that understands the pressure and situation of being a young, black, female once in a generation sprint talent. At the very least she could have dropped her a message telling Richardson she can reach out if she wants, instead of telling all of America that Richardson needs a mentor without ever saying it to her face
