Not trying to be a d#ck, but when you're one of only a handful of men to ever go under 3:30, 7:30, and 13:00, the bar is a lot higher than getting 2nd in a 3:35 race. Katir should be in contention for the win every time he races.

Blake has been good this year though, and he was back in 20.74. Probably just a bad day.

Yeah, wow, slow race. They said it was 72F, which isn’t great.

Boy did Blake fail that turn. A better 100 guy. A win is a win, but this should have been easier for KFK.

Few things to note on this:

-Yes I agree he’s not up to last year’s level, but I think he is closer than the times have indicated (today had a mishap, indoors he got COVID, Birmingham was a slow race in typically bad conditions)

-His Monaco 1500 last year was clearly a huge breakthrough like many athletes’ Monaco races are, so to expect him, Wightman, Grice or whoever to live up to that time every time out is unrealistic.

-I think he is a better 3000/5000 racer than 1500 one a la many strength-based guys with speed. Even in Monaco he had good rhythm but it’s not like he had to shift gears/kick crazily.

-Oslo will be a good test as I imagine the pace/conditions will be great and Jakob will try to run 3:45 or 3:46.

Not possible in 72F. Need high heat, some humidity maybe, and a good warm track.
