That is such BS. Who cares about her 3000m Gold? Didn't help her become a better runner. He focused on volume of work and losing weight (fine for Hasan who came to him a developed senior runner), and his weird sense of biomechanics.
She ran 1.59 at 17yo, faster than Mu or Hodgkinson at that age and they both ran 1.55 at 19yo. His crime (and I believe he should have been banned as a coach for that if nothing else) was to give up on her getting faster, because he didn't know how to coach it. At 21 she should have been a 1.56, 3.56 runner.
GDS was also in that 3000m race at World Jnrs (8th 9.14) and has gone on to run 1.58.7 and 3.56. The only reason she moved up then (her sister didn't) is that she struggled with 800m at that age for a bit (didn't make the OFSAA finals in the 800m in G10 and G11), didn't break 2.10 at the end of HS. Even that year (2014) after first year at University her best was 2.06.
