It is interesting to compare the Sahlmans and the Youngs with the best young European runners at the moment:
Danish Joel Lillesoe ran the 3000m indoors in 7:52.47 at 17 and recently in 7:48.44 at 18 (breaking Jakob´s U20 European record).
Lillesoe at 16 ran 3:44.5 in the 1500m which equals around 4:02.5 in the mile.
Lillesoe was European U20 champion in the 5000m this summer at 17. Lillesoe ran 13:57.6 in the 5000m at 16 and 13:40 at 17.
Fellow Dane Axel V. Christensen ran the 3000m in 7:59.30 at 16. Axel ran the 5000m in 14:06.5 at 15 and in 13:44.5 at 16.
Axel won the European U20 X country title in superior fashion in December 2021. In the race (6.2 km) he beat no. 2 with 25 sec and no. 3 (Joel Lillsoe) with 28 sec.
Joel and Axel are running the Monaco 5km road race next sunday.
