As to why a doper at the peak of her game would suddenly retire:

Her doctor told her she would die if she kept doing it. Another, you have thyroid-related diseases that are going to get bad fast. You are going bald and it's going to exponentially speed up. Your menstruation and fertility are doomed unless you quit. Your teeth are getting messed up. You can't deal with the gossip anymore and want to quit while you are ahead(before you get caught, or suffer what your doctor says you have, or what is coming.

Retiring at her peak is neither here nor there. If it was for a medical reason she didn’t want to publicly disclose, it could’ve also been her epileptic condition. Her menstruation might well have dormantly stopped during her peak years with or without drugs. She might have decided there was nothing more she cared to accomplish on track.

We’ll never know for sure one way or the other, so everyone can just speculate until the Jamaicans better her WRs at which point people will stop caring. We are almost there.

The 'maicans aren't above suspicion either. Bolt's gang: Powell, Blake, Nesta...plus Campbell Brown, Mullings all were suspended at one time or another. Nesta's bust cost them a 2008 gold retroactively.

Unless an athlete actually gets popped for using they are clean, just how it goes. Accusations simply don't work.

Name a Kersee coached athlete who had been caught. I can name a Salazar athlete and a Schumaker athlete. So why does practically every American top ten distance runner of all time get a pass?

According to a poster earlier in the thread FloJo was caught by the authorities but given a pass if she agreed to retire at the end of that season, which she did.

In 2019, Femke's fastest time in the 400mh was in the 55 range. Two years later, she runs a low 52 at the Tokyo Olympics. Mclaughlin and Dalilah have both had gradual progressions. If anyone's progression is suspicious in the women's 400mh, it's Femke's.
