John was limited by a chronic achilles issue that kept him off speed work. He started out as an 800m guy but had to move up.

Jakob was blunt and a bit irritated during the pre meet presser. They asked him why he chose to run in the 1500 instead of the 5000. He paused and then asked, "Why doesn't a long jumper choose to be in the high jump?"

Then they asked him a stupid question regarding what it's like to be the third most popular Norwegian athlete behind Karsten Warholm and Tiril Eckhoff. She is a star biathlete, BTW. I thought Jakob held his composure well during that one.

Also it sounded like Faith Kipyegon might have some interest in the marathon. Difficult to tell because there wasn't a followup question. But it sounded like she said she was looking forward to the big things ahead of her including following in the footsteps of Eliud Kipchoge.

Hassan was very relaxed and joking around. She said she took a training break after Tokyo and that's why she is focusing on shorter distances. She tried to lower expectations for tomorrow's race, including saying that Kipyegon is a little bit faster than her. I'm convinced it will be a cat and mouse race. Hassan said she didn't know if it would be fast or 4:10. Hassan kidded Kipyegon by saying they always push each other but tomorrow she hopes Kipyegon can't push and will fall off.

Impressive presentation by Hassan, especially after arriving late amidst some concern she wouldn't arrive at all.
