Why? Because it hurts to hear the truth?
It hurts me just as much to say it. While a few like you and I may still appreciate performances, nobody but nobody among the general public cares. One begins to see this happen in the major leagues as well—they are all vastly down, and the narrative that captures the casual fan has now become that of scandal.
Tabloidism is nothing new, but only recently has it taken over track. Unfortunately there is in track, as in many other things, only a scintilla of substance to keep it going. Sometimes that scintilla isn’t even needed, and we then enter the realm of totally fake “reality shows”.
Really, track has veered towards a variety show, and away from an athletic contest.
I know there are those working hard to keep the flame, and I applaud their efforts. The unfortunate reality is that they have fallen far behind, and we are now seeing largely, if not totally, junk.
Look at Ujah. Who? Ujah. Even the bit players are juiced, and everybody knows it. The only thing to do, if you don’t want to be a part of the circus, is to leave. I watched none of the OG track, and I’m not the only one. The morans can have it, I have other fights to fight.
