Funny, when a male U.S. distance runner makes a final, you guys make a thousand posts about how great they were and ran with guts. They still lost and didn't get a medal. But when other athletes medal in the sprints, throws and jumps, you call it a failure.

Are you serious! He just won a silver medal in the Olympics! Yes he was the favorite but he’s human and got 2nd!!!!!!!!! First Olympic race ever and he showed up!

I feel the same way. It could have gone much worse. He could have pulled a LOLO/DEVERS. Kept it together and held on for a medal. You can’t be disappointed when you gave 100%. Congrats to Holloway.

He seemed to be fine in the Trials semi, not to mention 2019 Worlds. He’s allowed a bad race, and he’ll be fine.

Heck, if a bad race gets him Olympic silver, that’s not shabby.

I was behind the blocks at the Trials. He was a millimeter over each flight, just barely harnessed power and perfect form. He knows what he’s doing.

OP stays in basement devastated. Holloway doesn’t come across cocky or a smack talker. I’m bummed to see him get second but what’s with the sh#t talk from a bunch of nobodies.

Everyone loses eventually. There are always winners and losers. We have no ordained right to gold medals because we are the United States of America. It's time to wake up, Take some heart to the fact that many of the athletes that are winning gold medals, while not American, often train in the states. It's all okay, in three years he gets to try again. It's not the losing that defines you, it's your reaction to it.

I thought the same. Really great handling of such a defeat as the overwhelming favourite. Seems to be a real class guy.

So much deflecting from the poor performances of the distance runners it's not funny. The board would rather talk about womens gymnastics, and womens soccer than acknowledge that their distance heroes are stinking it up. Sprinters, jumpers, throwers carrying the burden as always.

Simple put...he got OUTRACED.

Parchment is a solid veteran and is very fleet footed. He was getting closer and closer in the rounds and just ran a technically sound and efficient race.

This race is not about what Grant did right or wrong...it's more about what the vet Parchment did to secure the Gold.

It's really that simple.

BTW, they ran into a headwind (-1.1) sooo, both he and Grant probably would have run 12.9s. So back up off Grant, ya'll. He just got upstaged in this race. He'll be back.

Because the US had to come off their juice as WADA knows the signs now,hence the poor performances.
