Scotth and X, next time you find yourself at the Detroit Country Day school track (where Chris Webber went to school), tell me it isn't uphill on the backstraight.
JEH, I'll check it out. Speaking of expensive private schools, I've heard that the Cranbrook (not far from DCD)track was some odd distance shy of 440 yards back in the day. The '69 US AAU (TAC, USATF) cross champs were held at Cranbrook.
In northern MI, Boyne City has a painfully blue and beautiful track. When Indian River put down their first all-weather track, they ran for at least a year just on the asphalt layer. Down the road in Wolverine (it's the wolverine state but there's none here) they used to have what looked like a 220 yard dirt track. They didn't have room for more as it sits atop a hill. The track isn't there any more.
