Why does the media care so much about Allyson Felix?

I actually didn't realize she only had one individual gold medal. So she's the Derek Fisher of track I guess. Media loved him too.

The media is "follow the leader". When the major networks cover a story or individual. The rest of the networks follow. It's also known as "lazy".

Agreed and I’m a mom runner. Would love to see more distance focused athletes. I think more fans watch for the mid distance events than sprints. I’m usually fast forwarding through the sprint prelims. I get she’s inspiring but also plenty of others who are as well.

Allison Felix will be a big story until she retires. She has earned that. Sorry that you people have the attention span of a gnat. She is also perhaps the most beautiful woman ever in sports (and yes I have told my wife that), so why wouldn't you want her to have camera time?

BUT, to be fair to her, she is a multi-time gold medalist and still a world elite sprinter at age 35. It's news when someone makes a track Olympic team at age 35.

You fast forward through the sprinting events therefore no one cares about the sprints.
