Will Zersenay Tadese compete in the marathon? As far as I know, he hasn’t run a race since the World Championships in Doha.

After an athlete has been a pro a few years, no one runs "way better" even without changing coaches. World class athletes are the top 1%. When you get to that level, improvement is small, incremental. Jenny Simpson has improved less than 3 seconds her entire pro career, most of it with Wetmore coaching her. Clayton Murphy as a pro hasn't run any faster at 800 than he did as a college senior. Evan Jager has been stuck at 8:00 since 2015, all with Schumacher. Centro has improved less than 2 seconds his entire pro career. Galen Rupp ran his 12:58 his third year as a pro and never ran faster. In his entire pro career Andrew Wheating never ran any faster than the 3:30 he posted as a college senior. Alexa Efraimson ran 4:03 as a high schooler. Now 24, after six years as a pro she's yet to improve on that mark. Once they get to the highest levels very few runners run "way better" regardless of who his coaching them.
Informative post, off the top of my head I figured most runners did improve greatly after turning pro.
That first phrase is key - after the athlete has been pro a few years. Once you're at the top those big jumps are harder to find. There are some exceptions though. Shelby Houlihan has dropped 43 seconds off her 5k since 2016 - nearly 2 minutes since college.

Bold prediction...unless Jager shows up sometime soon...he won't make the Tokyo team.
Jager is entered at Mt. SAC.

This thread will be silly when the Olympics are canceled. Everyone is done!
I agree the Olympics won't happen, but if they did, Evan Jager isn't going.
After tonight's race, I hate to say it but we've got to add one of the US's all time greats to the list.
Molly Huddle.
15:23. Ouch.
Father Time is undefeated.

Centro. 1:50.9 800 and a 3:40 1500.
True, but his IG game is 2 thumbs up.

I bet she buys a Gyro Express franchise.
Murphy looked good today! This isn’t me saying I think he’s a lock in for the olympics but I have hope!
He made a bit too aggressive of a move trying to take a shot at hoppel, so saruni still got him, but he looks strong.

Sowinski is done as well. He just can't crack 1:46 anymore.

Maybe. I noticed she ran today's 1500 in racing flats. With her experience, she may just surprise people. I think the roads are her future, though.
