There is racism everywhere. Go to japan and ask any of the koreans, brazialians, filipino and so on if they feel discriminated against. Now to some extent what we consider racism has gotten pretty broad (i.e. asking a black girl about her hair is racist not curious. In 1860, you would need to consider a black person to be a subhuman to be a real racist).
To some extent this stuff is inevitable. Look at the nazi germany view of the poles. most of us would consider them two white groups. Or look at the civil wars between two groups that outsiders can't tell apart. There is a huge tendency to split groups into us and them and demonize the them. Physical appearance is an easy way to do it.

No I don’t look like any of them. Being originally South American, I guess I’m mixed race. I have both European and Native ancestry.
I think you’re lacking some context. What I was talking about is a general attitude, and one towards blacks and whites in Asia, not other Asians. Sure, there are isolated, specific incidents of racism, but in the large-scale, people of a nation will not react with overwhelming discrimination against people that look very different from themselves. It may be more of intrigue, and at the worst condescension and patronization, which I wouldn’t really consider racism. Racism toward different sub-ethnic groups of Asians is different. In that case, they look similar, but discrimination is of a more subtle nature which can make it more heated.
And of course. Racism in the U.S has evolved to mean “institutionalized racism against blacks” more than anything else. Hell, Steve Harvey has made directly racist comments towards Asians more than once, and no one reacted at all. But if it had been a role reversal, or white-on-black racism, people would’ve exploded. So from this example alone we really see the serious extent of racism towards blacks specifically in the U.S for it to elicit such intense outcry. This disparity in reaction has show that “Racism” has come to mean one race perpetuating dominant and “negative” cultural stereotypes, as well as expressing overt discrimination, of another race.

Not at the time, sort of. The Nationalist Republic of China was one of the founding members of the UN in 1945,and they retreated to Taiwan by 1949. The UN and most nations recognized the ROC as China instead of the communist PRC until 1971, even though the ROC had moved to Taiwan. That's within the time period my mom and dad came to the US around 1960. That's why PRC is often called "mainland" China - to distinguish it from ROC.

Can confirm that Mexico is racist AF, makes the US pale in comparison. I have personally experienced not being let into clubs, and people in my group because we were too dark skinned. If you go to prep high schools and good universities, a huge number of the people there are fair-skinned Mexicans. Being fair-skinned is a huge plus in Mexico when joining exclusive clubs, with work, and in social circles.

My wife is Asian, our kids are mixed race, we live in as redneck a part of the US as you can get, never once have we experienced any type of discrimination or prejudice from anyone. Yes, I know that's a statistical sample of one, but it's also over a time period of 30+ years, so it's anecdotal but not insignificant. I think people in the South are less discriminatory than elsewhere because there's a greater risk of getting your a$$ kicked if you offend someone.

You are correct about that. I visited Taiwan twice, in 1976 and 1983 (age 14 then), and China never. The difference is that my parents consider themselves from China even though they came to the US from Taiwan. They were actually born in China. Chinese people of their generation still believe in one China, at least my parents do. Technically, I think the US counted them as immigrants from China. I'm aware that the Taiwan leadership voted in in the past decade or so have been for Taiwan independence, so you are probably from a younger generation. I haven't followed those politics much as an American with no connection other than my parents.

So F'ing what. That's why people aren't in the streets protesting that Asian Lives Matter. Of course 'all lives matter', but Asians aren't getting murdered by cops. Blacks are. They have been for decades (centuries actually). It's only now that people are waking up to it b/c of cellphone videos. Just imagine how many thousands of blacks have been murdered in just your own lifespan... the kind of murders that would make George Floyd's murder look merciful. Lynchings... torture... hangings... being dragged behind some redneck's pickup truck. It's all real. All of it. It's not just some Hollywood depiction of a rare event. It's real. No go back to liveleak and watch the killing of George Floyd again.

Or maybe it has to do with the fact that you are not Asian, and your kids are only half Asian. Even your wife is married to a non-Asian. That makes her less "foreign" in the eyes of rednecks.
