The average times of everyone who runs 70MPW. That is why it is so much slower than many of you believe. There are walker/runners going 20 minute pace and there are runners going 15 minute pace who put in 100 mile weeks. They bring the average up pretty quickly.
I know there are old people who run a lot of mileage. But they are few and far between. Just look at the age group results of big marathons. The number of participants drops sharply once you hit 50 and even more so after 60. And the number of "competitive" people becomes even smaller as you move up the age groups.
So those old people who run a lot of miles make up a small minority of people who run at least 70mpw. And how slow they are really does not change the median time of the group, because they are all way below the 50th percentile. The OP did not ask "the average time" of all people who run at least 70 mpw. He asked "the time of the average runner" who runs at least 70 mpw. So the long tail at the slower end does not really affect the time of the 50th percentile person. I guess you misunderstood the question.
