This is by way of reply to both comments to what I wrote. Yes, he's been DQd from eight races. But even after than, and a New Yorker expose, his Boston and NY times are still official. In my view, he is not officially busted until he is banned from running (to the extent possible) and forced to return all his medals.
As for sponsorship, in one of the countless things I read this weekend, Kip claimed he was being sponsored by Snickers. Given his complete inability to tell the truth, there is a high degree of probability this is utter nonsense.
Was there some kind of a breakdown which lead to all this? I'm not a psychiatrist, but in my line of work I've seen many, many cases where people spin fantastical stories. Some are suffering from bona fide delusions. Others seek unearned glory (or money). I actually knew a woman who told everyone she was a pediatric neurosurgeon - and wasn't! She had gone to a couple years of med school and got kicked out. And speaking of that, I don't know the MI's dental board rules but I'm guessing unethical behavior in something totally unrelated to dentistry would probably not be grounds for having your license suspended. That said, I wouldn't trust someone who created such an elaborate hoax with my anything. I feel tremendously sorry for his wife and kids. It's like being related to the Bernie maddoff of running.
