I saw that runnerspace put out a video on Rocky Mountain's HOKA race and Hallie Heemeyer is ranked #30 in the country based off of her running 10:11 and he talks about them winning a national title.
The problem is that Jeff Howard is using final surge to get an altitude converted mark for 2599'. You can literally see him punching it into final surge inside the video.51 -

Hoka allows the conversion to sea level from the 2599 elevation in Meridian. So yes her 10:18 at that elevation is a 10:11 at sea level.

I saw the Rocky boys did the same thing last year and emailed the hoka people about it since I thought it was cheating, they told me that they gave permission and that their rules explicitely allow it.
Kind of dumb, but I could see why it levels the playing field

No, that's not correct. Going from 2nd to 8th in the last kilometer shows that Rodriguez is actually not good at running in the mud.
