Liberating Russian-speaking East Ukrainians from oppressive and corrupt West Ukraine government. People don't want to live the way Kiev tells them to.

And a lot of Ukrainians that died in the battles didn't want to fight either. Zelensky jails those who choose not to fight (7-10 years) and they even executed one of their own guys (Denis Kireev, shot in the back of his head) from the first negotiation round for treason, because he wanted to.... you know... negotiate.

Zelensky could give up Russian- speaking Crimea and Donbas and could save every single Ukrainian life from unnecessary death. But he is trying to glue by force land that isn't even Ukrainian. Since most of Donbas destroyed and depopulated by famine and Nazi-Germany (1932-1933 and 1941-1943) it was rebuilt and repopulated by Russians after Red Army liberation from the Nazis.

After that every other year there were protests in Donbas about Kievs mismanagement of the region.

So this is what the West is supporting. Keeping people by force in this "abusive relationship".

To those asking about why I'm invested in this. I have (had) family in Ukraine. My grandfather was a coal miner in Donetsk, so I know some history and what the situation really was and is.

Ukraine never truly was one, just like Yugoslavia.

Just like the Russians committed genocide in Crimea in 1944, then repopulated it.

Take a look at all the US and NATO military bases all over the world.

Then look at the same for Russia. And China.

Then tell yourself Russia is the aggressor.

US and NATO have dozens of allies and they share power.

RU has no allies other than Belarus and one or two 'Stans.

China has exactly one ally: NK.

That tells you what you need to know about who is the aggressor.

So you don't want to take into account the fact that the US has military bases in over 100 foreign nations while Russia does in less than a handful.

Russia is in on war with a nation on its border.

The US is at war or has been at war recently with Iraq, Syria, Libay, Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, and is pushing for war with Iran. None of these nations are even in our hemisphere.

Despite your repeated assertions that the US overthrew the Ukrainian government in 2014, you’ve provided no evidence beyond two politicians talking about the situation. Just because you keep saying something, doesn’t make it true.

NATO countries represents about 40% of world GDP and Russia about 2%, so yes, NATO has a much broader interest maintaining world order and most non-NATO country's economic interests are enhanced by cooperation with these countries.

Let's think about this number objectively...

• A gun barrel made from high-quality steel last approximately 2000 rounds before it needs to be replaced (otherwise, it gets warped so doesn't fire accurately, or explodes catastrophically). Russian gun barrels are not made from high-quality steel, so may last as few as 1000 rounds. It's unknown how many spare gun barrels Russia has in storage, or if they're any good. But, their reliance on massed artillery fire in Chechnya and elsewhere has likely depleted their supply of spares.
• Giving Russia the benefit of the doubt, and expecting each barrel to last 2000 rounds means that they're going through 30 barrels per day (if firing the claimed 60,000 round per day). Optimistically for Russia, that's close to 11,000 barrels that need to be replaced per year - and the actual number could be much higher. Russia is incapable of sustaining that replacement rate.

I've read that Russia was firing up to 45,000 rounds per day at their peak, but that number has dropped significantly over the last few months. Part of the drop is due to Ukraine's targeting of ammo dumps, which has disrupted Russia logistics, so they are not able to get sufficient shells to their artillery positions. Russia is not going to run out of ammo, no matter how many ammo dumps Ukraine hits. However, continually striking ammo dumps does complicate Russian logistics and neutralize Russia's numerical superiority.

Did you already pay the reparations and give land back to it's rightful owners in order to be in a position to judge how Russian- speaking people happen to inhabit Crimea and Donbas?

No hypocricy will be tolerated. Admit your own genocides, war crimes, pay reparations, give back what's stolen and only then you will get moral right to tell other countries off.

Now it's easy to critisize others while living that good life in a country with stolen land and built on slave labour.

I know Switzerland is no saint, but I also have no problem with borders being rewritten to suit the need of people. If Donbas and Crimea don't want to be a part of Ukraine, then let them leave. If Texas or California don't want to be a part of USA, let them leave as well.
