I disagree. Rojo might have understood the potential for LRC to cover this story. I suspect he had pushback from Gault and Wejo. You have to understand that Wejo was like one spot away from making the Olympics. He doesn't care about age group records for old geezers.

But yeah, I think you're right "attention seeking" and as a medical type who posted here a couple of days ago who met him said, the "humble brag" that he works around to and drops in to the conversation.

Can just see it, Monday morning at the practice where he supervises 144 medical types plus admin, etc (so plenty of people to humble brag to over the day):

Since Frank said he’s going to run sub3 next year with an observer at LA or on his “own” in Chicago, I can’t keep up with the lies, LR could offer a “performance bonus” to a charity of his choosing. Therefore LR isn’t bullying him or forcing him to prove something. You can just piggyback and use his lies against him.

Strange that the late great Ed Whitlock wasn't on the list in the 80-84 age group, even amongst honorable mentions. He was still running quite well until not long before his cancer diagnosis. And I KNOW he was Canadian... there are Kenyans on the list.

It is hard to keep up with Frank's lies, when Rojo was contemplating putting up cash Frank had told the Loyola High School coaches he had a heart condition, this is where the "he may die and you'll get sued" bit came in.

If not get sued then at the very least LetsRun and us sleuths and truth seekers would look like arseholes, which we're not of course.

And yeah, I know, he told the coaches about the heart condition right after he'd told the Loyola boys he was going to run the Chicago Marathon to prove everyone wrong, but hey, that's just Jekyll and Hide Frank.

I'm older than Frank. How could it possibly be bullying??!!!!! You're offering the charity of his choice a large amount of money that generates more awareness (and fundraising opportunities) for the charity. It's not bullying. It's good for the charity... even if Frank never toes the line. It's national, free publicity!

The guy's not going to fall over dead trying to run 6:36/mile pace. He's just not! If running harder than your ability at the start of a race killed 70-year-olds, I'd have died this morning. So would a few hundred more across the nation from this morning's 4th of July 5Ks.

Besides, we know he wouldn't have even tried.

At least from what I’ve read, Rosie was more clueless than audacious.

She had no intention of “winning” Boston, but was too clueless to realize she jumped in ahead of all the women.

She doubled down for the rest of her life. Was she “clueless” or was that the card she played? I read she was clueless about training and splits but not that she “accidentally” came in first when she just intended for a fast finishing time.

Maybe RW was just trying to pick a more "diverse" group of winners for marketing purposes, and didn't really even know of Frank. I mean, that would make sense.

Ed was injured in 2014. He came back to the marathon in 2016 setting an AG world record five months before he died (with no bike.).

Some seemingly drunk guy named Scott, alumni of Loyola, came back in here saying how much he loved us all and begged for forgiveness for shouting down the trolls who were building evidence against Frank at the start of this thread. Evidently he doesn't he doesn't like evidence.

I think he claimed to be a public prosecutor. I hope Loyola isn't doing anything really nasty because they might walk off "Scott" free.

Rojo, on second thoughts I agree with Fisky, put up $100,000 for charity for Frank to run sub 3hrs at LAM2020, we know he's never going to front up but in the meantime think about the world wide publicity and clicks.

Dunno if you're aware it, but this story has gone world wide ballistic, a $100,000 challenge would send it in to the stratosphere and generate millions of clicks.
