Is the Russian Black Sea Fleet the most incompetent military organization in history? Moskva, sank. Aircraft, destroyed. Headquarters, drone strike. Carmine, looks like these failures are starting to fail in new ways.
THURSDAY, 18 AUGUST 2022, 07:00 The Russian Federation continues to deploy its troops in the areas near the Russian-Ukrainian border in Bryansk and Kursk oblasts (in Russia). Source: General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukrai...
Drone strikes reported against Russia's Black Sea HQ in Crimea. Good to see U.S. technology and "advisors" at work.
I can't think of a better way to piss away $40B than on a proxy war with Russia. It's not like we have a national debt of $30T or anything. Besides, we run the planet - every square acre. Anyone who begs to differ should be subject to immediate drone strikes.
And it's not like Russia is going to back any bad actors in another proxy war as a form of payback. That never happened during the Cold War. If the U.S. were pursuing an unwise policy, our legions of Ivy-League-educated swamp creatures would make our corrupt government officials aware of this fact.

Lots of fleeing going on. Interesting article here about Russians fleeing Russia. Mostly young, mostly educated. Russia is paying for this war with its future. According to Russia's own statistics, 20.9% of the population is now under the poverty line, representing 14.3% of the population, compared to 12.4 million in the last quarter of 2021, an increase of nearly 67% in less than a year.
New to this thread so unaware of the current discourse. I am somewhat informed on the war, know precious little Russian but enough to sift through news articles, and I've read enough Russian literature to make a HS boy angsty. The level of misinformation I've seen on LR is astounding (mostly us biased)
Yesterday whatever weird circle of Twitter I am in posted a bunch about Alexander Dugin's daughter being a killed in possibly a targeted attack. Dugin is the "political philosopher" or "grey emigre" of Putin's court. His views are kind of stupid and I think he has become something of a celebrity at this point, but I am wondering if this will be used as an excuse for further escalation?
Other news: Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. I've heard conflicting reports on who will "start" it, but it is possible that this will blow/have a meltdown/something bad in the next week. It would be another excuse for escalation on either side, or possibly a way for US/NATO to withdraw (Too dangerous/total loss)
All in all its becoming clear that the only real loser is Ukraine and parts of West Europe

Looks like Russia is trying to turn Zaporizhzhia into an army base, then blame Ukraine when they have another accident with a careless soldier smoking around the ammo.

Your link is paywalled, so maybe it addressed this question, but it's hard to see how Russia isn't in the set of "real losers" at this point. Maybe you could expand upon this point?
