In that era, those were the cultural norms. A modern parallel might be a woman attending church services in extremely revealing clothing or lingerie or going topless in public.
The Apostle Paul has simply stated that women should not be flagrant or excessively loud or frenzied during a church gathering. Just as clothing should reflect a controlled, reasonable person, so too should behavior in a church service reflect godly peace. Again, that was the culture of those times which is not our culture today.

Anyone who claims to "follow the Bible" is either ignorant or an idiot or both. The Bible has some GREAT advice in it, so it is worth a read for that reason, but the magic is BS. There is no God. There were no miracles. Jesus was very likely a real person, but he was not called "Jesus" and never heard that name in his life, and of course he didn't look like a white guy with a tan.
If an asteroid hit Earth and wiped us all out and life started again as it did before (and no, God did not create life), it is likely that intelligent life would form again, and religion of some sort would form to explain the unexplainable to uneducated people who needed that. BUT, there would be no story of Jesus or all the other nonsense in the Bible, whatever the diety would be would likely not be the same. There are currently about 3,000 different religions on Earth, and most of them worship a very different God (or Gods) than the one Christians pray to. The religion that the vast majority of people belong to is of the area of the world they were born in. Hell of a way for God to decide to sentence most of them to hell, eh?
