Svoboda did a terrible job with along with rumors of miscoduct at the only job she has had. She "quit" the profession. And then she gets the job at Stanford.... Cmon people why is this ok. There is no way these kids are going to buy in, I feel so sorry for them. I just do not know what is worse giving someone a job with no experience or giving somebody a job who has terrible experience.

Patiently waiting for the same people who complain about women with zero experience coaching getting jobs to complain about a male with zero years of experience coaching landing a full-time position fresh out of college.
eiu is a terrible job. the school is going out of the business. their support is terrible. very bad image in the state. nobody wants to go there, it's a back up to the back up to the back up school. i bet he is making less than 20k and will only be there for a year. this is entirely different than a female getting a job at stanford after leaving the sport years ago after having some kind of nefarious relationship with a male athlete.
35k for Head XC/Assistant TF at a D1 school is amazingly low. Considering that you'd be coaching all 3 seasons, that'd be tough to live off of unless you're single and have little to no debt or your spouse makes good bank.

EIU is a mid-major that hosts the state meet every year and is under recruited. Has indoor and outdoor facilities and scholarships available. Worst case scenario the school closes in 4 years and you give an experienced coach who has been stuck volunteering or just wrapped up a GA the opportunity to build something respectable that helps sustain their career. I I agree that this coach will only last a year or two then move on if they are good at coaching. If not they will stick around and sit on the comfy 30k and low expectations of the head coach until they find their coaching groove then bounce. Not the best place to find a job, but full-time going to no experience is still no experience getting a job.
What you have to consider is the applicant pool. I would bet that the applicant pool to eiu was terrible. Everyone knows how bad it is getting there so my guess anyone with good experience was not applying. In a scenario with a guy with bad experience and a hungry up and comer I take the up and comer. So even if it were a woman I would be ok with that. EIUs of the world are supposed to be how you break in. OVC is a great first chance conference.
I guarantee the applicant pool to Stanford had far far better than svoboda. They just happened to have hang lows.
He’s paying his “dues”. Then, when he takes a power 5 job it’ll be justifiable. Let’s run critics can be quiet then
