I think we realistically can expect this administration to take credit for pretty much anything good that happens--in the country or the world.
They saw that Obama was more modest and didn't get all the credit he could have, while Trump did a lot of crowing and did get credit for a lot of good stuff, whether deserved or not.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anything you say, but the purpose of research into pathogens is to have a ready-to-go response.
For example, some scientists will intentionally cause mutations in viruses to make them more contagious. Why? So the same scientists can learn how to make medicines to stop viruses that mutate in that way. So if it happens in nature, a medicine can be made quickly. The science would have been done already.
