Chicago cops want this one too badly. I know for a fact that Chicago PD has been less interested in solving some murders. Chicago Police Super Eddie Johnson is trying to bully Smollett to roll over and plead guilty. Surveillance footage, bs. Super Johnson wants to intimidate Smollett so Smollett's attorneys do not take this to trial. Those Nigerian-Americans will not hold up well under cross-examination.
+1. You can see how they repeatedly LIED to media about how the case was going, saying there was no surveillance, etc. All this, just to entrap him. Going to trial would be a disaster. (e.g. discovery on their leaks). They've already overplayed their hand.
