MIAC Track 2017

That 4x800m was something special. I hope we all genuinely appreciate what we saw today. Two teams setting a new standard of success. A battle of Goliath, superstackes teams that lived up to the hype and more. Carleton and Olaf battled it out to the end, Gustavus fought back for third, and the Johnnies defied all the odds and were in it up until their anchor leg! It was beautiful. Sorry if I sound sappy, but it's just so great to see racing like this. That's what MIAC's all about.

How TF did Saint John's do that?? Their fastest leg coming in was a distance runner with a 1:56 PR in Bugler, and they go and average, what, 1:55's?

Love that of all races the 10k (slow, yeah, but still) and 4x8 were so fun to watch. We got lucky this year.

It truly is amazing how deep the MIAC middle distance is this year. How often to you see a team run 7:49 and get 6th? That is typically a winning time/top 3 in any other year. The 800 has a final with a bunch of guys that have run 1:53 or better. Most years you might have 1 to 3 runners capable of that. The 1500 is pretty darn deep even without DCG running.

Everyone is raising their game.

The slowest 800m pr in the final is 1:54.28.

watching the 10k last night reminded me that I hadn't see Alex Berhe run since indoor. He injured?

After looking at the 800 results I'm going to opine that Josh Schoen deserves the regional assistant coach of the year award again.

Is whoever's operating the live stream camera asleep at the wheel? The camera has just been focused on the finish line clock for the entire 5K.

Well they were able to show the last two laps of the race. The guy must have had to go take a dump or something.

To this day his best race was the 2015 Conference CC championship. Since then it's just seemed like sandbagging due to injury/illness.

Plenty of men and women underperform at every meet. No need to bring it up and bash somebody.

It would be one thing if he was hyped up to be a heavy favorite like Donson in the 800m, Coffey in the 1500m, or Bugler in the Steeple. THEN there would be plenty of DEVASTATED comments. But, he wasn't. He was a contender, to be sure, but it just didn't work out. I hope he is healthy and gets a chance to race again this weekend to have one last solid collegiate race before he ends his college career.
