It seems like some PR person has finally got through to Cam and the meltdown is slowing down. He's replaced endless talking about his PED usage with posting about how he killed a bear the other day. There's even this dramatic shot of him "going eye to eye" with a bear and extending his bow. I really can't stand influencer culture.
You know as well as I do that rules mean nothing. They are guidelines written by the people in power. Well guess what. Guidelines change and so do the people in power. If me and the rest of the Camaniacs can come together and work to have the rules changed, we can finally have a sport which does not discriminate against dopers and where everyone can finally be treated equally. We don’t have to submit our consciences to these invisible rule dictators. If we Camaniacs come together we can finally live in a world where there is Fair Sport.
I appreciate the levels of irony and commitment to the bit, but it's just not funny

Is Sage going to list the drugs he took and see if WADA compliant during his Illness and if he filed for TUE?
The meltdown is back and worse than ever this morning. Now he's directly targeting and retaliating against Sage. This is a tantrum for the ages, and clearly meant to intimidate people into not "crossing cam." Sadly, many elites and subelites would rather chase follower counts than stand up for the integrity of the sport. Cam's meltdown is interspersed with him posting messages supportive of doping that he's received from OTQers and other elite athletes. One guy, who said he OTQ'd at Eugene in 2023 said "BPC doesn't increase your performance." How would you know if you haven't tried it, dude?

At the risk of being annoying, would you mind screen shot-ing again? Us boomers don't know how to use social media.
He’s got Jacob Puzey doing PR for him now too. It’s sadly comical all the clout chasers doing work for him
Every most Jacob Puzey makes is just the cringiest nonsensical word salad I've ever read, with no clear point. Him and his brother really are related, I've never seen a writing style be the exact same in siblings.
For those without socials this was Puzey's latest post, shocker he decided to make it about himself somehow:
"Several years ago, I ran a 50K on the other side of the state in which I lived. While the event was only a few hours away, it felt like a completely different world to me. I was fortunate to run with two seasoned veterans @yassinediboun & @nicholas.triolo for a few hours. As often happens, we talked & shared & learned from one another. Eventually one of them asked me how I felt about the brand plastered all over the obnoxious yellow shirt that my nutrition sponsor asked me to wear. Initially, I thought he was asking for a product review, but it soon became clear that he meant “how do you feel about the way the parent company of that brand is hurting the people and places in which we recreate?” They both kindly informed me of something about which they cared deeply. They could have rightfully assumed that I was an ignorant hick & spoken down to me, but instead they kindly taught & mentored me. They didn’t shame me or blame me. They didn’t try and get me cancelled or banned from running in that part of the state. This experience not only increased my respect and admiration for them as leaders in the community, it led me to try and learn so that I could make more informed choices. It ultimately led me to choose a different nutrition sponsor that didn’t compensate me as well & to be honest, some of the products didn’t work as well for me. But because of the way that Nick and Yassine expressed their values to me, it motivated me to care more about the things they valued. This is the power of civil discourse and community. Unfortunately, as more & more money enters the sport, it seems like each year, influencers, coaches and keyboard warriors find a “scandal” to “expose” to divide the community rather than discuss the concern civilly in person. It’s exhausting and disheartening to see people care so much about so little as though the most basic thing we do is somehow going to be destroyed. In the process, what we do lose is our humanity. I appreciate the efforts of @theultrarunnergirl @des_linden & @karagoucher who have tackled the current “scandal” with kindness and care. Guys, we can learn a lot from these ladies. 🫶🏼 PC: @longrunpix"
I understand where Finn is coming from. Interview begins at 10:33 timestamp re: the CamSage issue and the issue ends at 19:30 before he talks about Precision Hydration or whatever.
At 12:44 she brings up a good point about not having the resources to test every runner, they barely have enough resources/items to test the elites, etc. That's a fair, valid point, and not being biased in either direction.
And at 13:54 they do at least acknowledge the issue and don't excuse what happened, while also trying to avoid tearing down Cam's character. I'm sure if I met Cam in a bar we'd talk hunting and guns (I like those sports as well). This issue has made me look at both side more fairly.
I'm also willing to listen to D&K and also Cam's podcast, as well as Jeff Garmire's pod (Free Outside). They also referenced this post:
The comments to that episode are heartening. Near universal condemnation of both Hanes and the hosts for such a weak response. You either care about fairness in sport or you don't. If your idea of justice changes if the perpetrator is a friend, then you're not really interested in justice and fair competition at all.
Oh Christ. If only someone could have gently talked to the witty bitty sensitive hunter baby Cam who apparently has been doping for at least 15 years, based on his 2011 blog article, about how he could make better life choices.
The same Cam who is unrepentant about his doping, who tries to ridicule others for getting the Covid vaccine, and is a 3x MAGA voter because he “didn’t want men in women’s sports.” Probably a lot more old men runners like Cam on gender-affirming hormones than trans athletes. Crazy to me that so many high-level ultra runners associate with this guy.

Finn comes off horribly responding to comments as well, glad to see him dragged about it

As if it weren't obvious Cam is in a huge echo chamber of his fanboys, if he could read the room he would know that this story hitting critical mass is exactly what he doesn't want to happen. There's no nuance to the greater court of public opinion on this, he'll be branded a doper for life.
If his brain were bigger than his ego he'd stfu about this already and hope it blows over

To make a bit of an extreme analogy, these influencers downplaying this really give off similar vibes to the Trump administration downplaying Epstein. It makes you take a pause and think about what their motives are.
2011 world athletics survey showed 30% of anonymous athletes admitted to doping. And this is a sport with an actual real testing protocol with out of competition testing. Only a handful of ultra marathons do in competition testing and that only catches the people that miscalculated the half life of the banned substances they are taking. But yeah let's attack a dude that's almost 60 years old because im sure cam was the only dude at Cocodona on something.
More than 30% of athletes competing at the 2011 World Championships admit to using banned substances during their careers, according to a Wada-commissioned study.
