This is only true if you cannot look at a sprint or throwing or jumping training week or month and see the differences in details and contexts between workouts. Having coached many of the event groups, I know that good coaches work equally hard and know their events extremely well. Somebody who suggests that one group is tougher to coach than another simply shows how little they know about the sport in general.

This is happening it’s been happening the past 3-4 years now let’s just let it go look around it. Just expect about 20-30% of coaching jobs to go this way, instead of wasting energy on these just focus on the other 70%. If you’re a great coach and build up a resume of great results in D1 you will get a P5 position just when you get there don’t make this kind of hire.
People don’t have to like it or not but we hire people we have experience with and trust. Obviously Miltenberg has a long history with her. Makes total sense. Every one of us would do the same thing. I’m not hiring someone I don’t know or isn’t highly recommended to me by someone I do know and trust. There are a lot of coaches that are very good coaches who will also Stab you on the back the first chance they get. Trust and shared philosophy is really important.

Not familiar with the above coach/athlete, but given the stature of the school it is likely she will move on to some good opportunities in the next few years.
You can be frustrated, or you can view it as job security. How often do inexperienced hires pan out? A lot of the schools in my conference that make such hires tend to struggle in track. In reality, such hires are just helping established coaches (male or female) stay on top of their respective conferences.

Maybe some of you should take advantage of holding a stopwatch and driving a van and "being just a babysitter." You could learn a lot.
It's not surprising head coaches hire people they can trust to know their role and develop, rather than a know-it-all who thinks they could do a better job.
