to be fair Dave Norman had a much better run at Watford. Ashton did not run BUPA Manchester. The majority ran slower or about the same on the track at Watford than at Manchester for some reason. Some have improved fitness since then like Ford did.

You dont know who Wicks is??? You make me sick! You shouldnt even be allowed to post on a running forum.
Wicks form has been indifferent of late so he was prob unsure how he would get on and throwing himself to the wolves at a busy Watford would not seem a wise choice. Instead he does a lower key race the following day and pushes an olympic champion right to the wire! Stick that in your pipes you wicks haters.
I don't think this is irony Dave. Rumour has it that this group of northern based students really do idolise Wicks, Nicholls and one or two other prominent distance runners, in a manner bordering on the unhealthy. My bet is their students digs are like shrines to these demi-gods. I would warn those particular athletes to be very careful if approached by said stalkers. AS for their own running progress, they have stuck at it as under achievers until most of their age group have packed in, thus making them look better than they are. They should be beating Wicks not adoring him!
You are a prick. No wonder athletics is so unpopular when people get bashed for having favourite runners. Whilst on my second run tonight im gonna go over to the first group of young lads playing football i see and tell them there all wasters cos they have their favourite players names on their shirts, "you should be taking Ronaldos place in the starting 11, not adoring him" i shall tell them.
As for sticking at my own running as an "under achiever until most of my age group have packed it in" Im not sure id call a 36.20 10k aged 18 off no training then 2 years of gradual increases and woops 31.09 and 14.40 either "under achieving" or "sticking at it until most of my age group have packed it in"
Now dont you have arses to sniff?
Ladies ladies put the handbags away!!
As always the thread starts off genuinely good natured and sticking to topic and then we stray into bitching about who's good, whos rubbish etc etc.
Lets stick to the facts - Nicholls and Ford ran exceptionally well and I think Nicholls can go quicker judging by how easy he looked and I think Ford can go quicker this year also. Nicholls has moved on from the World Cross and it will be interesting to see if he can carry through the progression.
The main vein of arguement seems to be people slating Wicksy. His summer so far hasnt reflected the promise he showed in the winter - he knows that. No one feels the pressure like the athlete themselves. Making ur track 10km is not recommended when ur not in ur best form so his choice was a wise one!! It was justified by his performmance. The London course isnt ideal for quick times and I think Wicks could have got pretty close to 29 just by racing on the track but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Lets get behind our boys and support them - dont use these forums as an excuse to bitch at them
Cragg will be a danger man in years to come. This season alone he has come on in leaps and bounds, highlighted by his 14.40 at Bedford. His 3k PB is also very good. With him banging the training in at around 75-90 miles per week and training with the talented Lisgo, Burrett, Hilton and Dirrane, I wouldnt be surprised to see him near the top of our 3k-10k rankings in a couple of years time.
Just out of interest are nicholls and ford sponsered by any shoe company, ie get free gear. From what i am hearing on here this phil wicks kid is. Looking back at the BMC in manchester both nicholls and ford handily beat wicks and they have also proven their superiority on the track again last weekend. So it begs the question how does one get sponsered in this day in age?
I think Nicholls and Wicks are both sponsored by Asics! Wicks certianly has earned his sponsorship, Asics are a business not a charity, they want exposure, Wicks gives tem that by regularly running and winning races.
In my area there are athletes far weaker than wicks/nicholls who have small kit deals, why? Because all the local runners know them and look up to them, and they get their pictyure in the local paper often
Cragg;s pathway to underachievement, or not, is detailed in about a zillion pages at the Uni AThs messageboard. There was 1 sunday run he sort of messed up due to setting out after a roast meal to celebrate his grandma's birthday but hey he's still learning.
Am pissed off someone's taken my surname to post here, I want it back please, now, it's the only one I have.
I spoke to Ford after a 3k at Stretford and hes one of the nicest guys ive met on the circuit. I assume he had some sort of Adidas endorsement in his days at Wisconsin but as far as i know now he is kit deal-less. Any Rep worth their weight should get him signed up asap!
wardy is a tubby pug nose gremlin
Yes our group of Northern based students do love Wicks! No irony involved we just admire him a lot!
Anyone who sticks minute and a half on Birchfield's Ndaysenga must have had a good run!
I love Craggs training log. Very handsome chap in real life too.
I am sorry I seem to have upset you. I heard you sad northern boys just ponced about in flash kit raving about other runners who take the sport more seriously than the looks, but raving even more if they look good as well, was I wrong?
I also heard you are now half decent but have been dabbling at the pharmacy to get that improvement and that cannot be condoned. Isn't your coach an MD?
Get real luke, do the hard miles, forget about Nichols perfect hair and just say no to drugs!
The funny thing I saw was that Lemoncello who won the steeplechase easily in a world B standard and tops the 10km rankings had no sponsor either. He was wearing his gear from the states.
how do i acess this training log?
I believe its on uniathletics.proboards76.com under training logs. A very good read.

Thats not funny or suprising, you can't have a sponsor whilst in the NCAA system and hes been home for a very short ammount of time, not exactly long to tie up a deal. He will be sponsored in good time, hopefully he has more than one offer on the table and is weighing them up.
This is riduculous why are these guys not getting sponsered? Lemoncello and ford should def warrant something surely?
