I’m more interested in how Jaxon Northcutt would do in the 3200. He hasn’t broken that 8:57 curse and I’d love to see just how much more is he capable of in the state meet. He has had quite the jump from sophomore to junior year
He really did. 9:40 3200 in track to 15:01 5k in XC. Huge jump.
I get the feeling Stream may scratch out of one of those events (I think as far as I’m aware you can scratch an event before the state meet). Fitchen-Young and Morgenfeld scratched the 1600 their junior year to prioritize the 3200.
If you qualify for the State meet in multiple events and are not going to run in a particular race you must scratch after your last Masters meet event / at the end of the Masters meet.

You know track very well sir. Were you 800 runner? you really predicted Azra to hit below 2.10 and now she is 2.08
Thanks. I was not an 800 runner. I love stats and research. So I look at how runners do in cross country and track (with today's internet it takes a matters of seconds to do that). Azra ran low 18's at Woodbridge this past fall. When you add a good distance base to fantastic speed you'll get a good result in the 800. All that is needed is the runners belief in themselves.
What have you been running? Were you a pro runner? We are trying to put her for U18 European championship representing Turkiye
I'm 70 I don't run anymore, I shuffle at best. There was no pro running when I ran.
Here is another great story from this past weekend. Santa Monica's Lin ran 8:59.99 for 9th and a ticket to the state meet. He was 70th at Southern Section finals this past fall in D1 in 15:26.
Elijah Medina went from 10:03 to 9:07 and 4:31 to 4:10 just a sophomore
Also senior Jonah Vasquez has had a massive jump this year. Hard to tell because he has no track results I can find on athletic.net, and his 3 previous years of cross country before transferring to Cathedral were unremarkable, with his best result being 16:58 at state finals as a junior. His 15:32 at Clovis was a remarkable improvement, but still not as remarkable as his 1600m times this year of 4:08.44 and 4:09.16 to qualify for states. Another out of nowhere performance was 9th grader Micah Martin-Price, who had a decent cross country season with a best performance of 17:05 at Mt.Sac. His track season didn't even start until 1 race before league finals. At league finals he doubled with 1:59/4:29. Both those times put him in the California 9th Grader top 25 for the season, in just his 3rd and 4th races of the season. He proceeded to win the SS D4 800m, and then run the Masters in 1:54.60, the third fastest time for a Cal 9th grader this year. He might have some previous track history, but it is not listed on athletic.net.

This is a very good Southern Section preview. Host is Ken Martinez and guest is Coach Ken Reeves. Coach Reeves explains how Vasquez was hit by an E-bike this past fall and his season was cut short. Go to around 24:40 minutes in when the preview boys 1600 and Coach Reeves explains what happened.
She has not hit sub 2:09 in World Athletics sanctioned meet yet. We are planning to give a shot in June. But frankly speaking 2:08-2:07 range is not that attractive for Federation. Only hope we have is living close to Oregon, That might justify ( I mean cost wise)
The Jesuit recruiting myth is so tired and played out.
It's pretty simple. Local kids see Jesuit kids running fast. They might talk to the Jesuit kids at meets and get to know them. They see the success and want to be a part of it. Their parents have the means to send them to Jesuit so they send them.
No recruiting necessary. The kids "recruit" themselves.
Stop the bs. Jesuit starts reaching out to kids from all other in 7th grade. They break cif rules. Archdiosese hides it. Their kids are just an all star team not locals. Many are one year older.
