DNF came from incidental contact on the 3rd leg with NC, Augustana, and Wheaton battling for the lead. NC runner ended up on a stretcher with an apparent broken arm. Tough way to end an exciting meet.

Didn't NCC have like a 40 year long track and field CCIW winning streak?

No. Augie won in 2008 and 2010 and won indoors a fews months ago.

Eau Claire finished 6th as a team at the WIAC conference meet.. Best they could have done with their three top distance runners competing is 5th. I think their coach made the right call and the EC sprinters would probably agree.

I was there watching, it really was a bad way to end the meet- Augie ran 3:12 and Wheaton ran 3:13- had the NC guy not gone down, they probably would've been right there at the end as well. It appeared he got clipped incidentally, went down and ended up breaking his arm on the fall. Ambulance came and took him to the hospital. Definitely a bit of a sobering way to end such a great meet with great performances all around.

I hope that 4x4 guy wasn't a senior.

More importantly, Jamie Norton ran a 4:06 mile closing in 61.5. That is because 61.5 is on pace for a mile in 4:06, which is what Jamie Norton runs for the mile.

Considering it was 85 degrees without a cloud in the sky I'm pretty sure it would have been sort of difficult to run sub 30:30 by themselves.

Also, anyone claiming bad coaching clearly doesn't know that the EC coach is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. It was a joint decision b/w coach and athletes. Considering the fact that even if they doubled and took 18 points in both the 10k and 5k (ignoring the fact Ian Lamere was in both races), they still wouldn't have done well as a team, while they have a great shot at completing the triple crown in a few weeks.

Well I'm rooting against them for taking competition for granted. That is a sin, you know.

I'd like to say I'm indifferent as to how the eau boys perform athletically but damn I'm impressed alcoholism isn't widespread on the team. If I was that close to Chippewa Falls I'd be drunk as a skunk 7 nights a week. Hopefully they aren't Smirnoff ice sippers.that would be a real shame.
