Coaching in high school in NJ - I’ve watched SML since her frosh HS year where she showed her once-in-a-generation talent. She’s a freak! She wasn’t doping then and isn’t doping now!
The same could be said about Knighton.
Fair point but Knighton was a flash in the pan with mysteriously seemed to appear and then disappear. SML’s HS racing was prolific and continued at Kentucky. We all know he hasn’t raced frequently over recent years. I attribute that to what she goes through mentally re: racing including her own very high expectations every time she races.

Botswana suddenly getting good at the 400m is so suspicious, if you started watching track a month ago and don't know who Baboloki Thebe or Karabo Sibanda are.
Or if you’ve been around the sport your entire life and know what goes on in the shadows.
It's funny how Lyles is one of the best athletes of his generation and yet basically no one likes him. Commentators just insanely bored by his antics.
the crowd roared when he was announced and did his pre-race pose. i lose track of his different poses, but pretty sure that one has japanese manga origins and he is in...japan. crowd loved it.
Lyles antics are nerdy and annoying, but I basically don't even look anymore, so im not bothered. His post race interview was really, really good. Makes me actually like the guy when he talks like that. Sincere, honest, confident. You can tell a guy like Lyles is confident when he's giving sincere compliments and good analysis to his competition.
Except that there's a detailed documentary about the doping regimen of Koch with the data from the archives of Stasi so it's not just ''guilty by association''. And also her virilised look consistent with Marita using high amounts of anabolic-androgenic steroids.

But you have to give them both the presumption of innocence.
So as far as I'm concerned, they're both clean unless proven otherwise.

Is Kejelcha confirmed not running? He said after the 10k that he was going to try and get into the 5k, would be a shame if Ethiopia didn’t allow that move. Could have seen him making it interesting and going for broke considering how it would be his final track race of his career and he’s already won a medal this championships. Of course, maybe he still wouldn’t do that, but better odds of that than anyone else making it interesting.
Josette Andrews talks about her training and shares thoughts on her first global outdoor final. I also asked her about the Cole Hocker DQ as her husband was once DQd
Another doper. And who cares what she thinks about Hocker.
Going sub 48 in lane 9 is way more impressive than doing it in lane 5.
Shocked me how fast Paulino went out.
Fake news. If you run disciplined, the outside lane is the easiest lane on the track. It's only the mental side of it (not being able to see anyone) that can sometimes make it tricky. My PR came out of a lane 9.

This. Athletes at this level should be focused on execution not the athletes in the other lanes. Van Niekerk ran his WR from the outside lane.
It is naive to think that talented athletes don't dope. Of course they do.
Well, if everyone is doping then what's the difference?
Firstly, everyone is not doping but many at the top are. Secondly, they don't all take the same drugs and don't all respond the same. It's a chemical arms race.

100%. The thing is, you're definitely running the first 200 within yourself. To win a world title, you need YOUR perfect pace. no need to see comp. She knew syd was gonna be under 48 or close, and she raced it accordingly. And then the last 100, everybody can see what's going on.

The top are doping including all the American runners that made it to Worlds and especially in the finals. It’s beyond obvious. Unfortunately only Shelby got caught.

Well, who gets to decide which people at the top are doping?
And if you aren't doping, why aren't you? It's impossible for someone clean to beat someone doping, right? Or is it? Or don't you know?
For example, Erriyon Knighton we assume was doping but he never won an Olympic medal. So what happened there, was he not doing it right? And is he the only 200 guy doping or are the others doing it too, but they're just doing it right and winning and not getting caught? Do you know?
This is honestly making me change my tune on Shelby a bit. I’ve been hating on her hard, must kill her to watch syd get to be the golden girl. I am going to be cheering for her in the 5k now.
Interested to see how Innes Fitzgerald does, could be a future medal contender, maybe by LA.
Very good for her age but she lacks a turn of pace right now. She can lock into a good pace and maintain it but doesn't seem to have an extra gear. As soon as I saw her at the back of the pack, I knew she didn't have enough to kick home for a Q. It's all good experience at this point for her.
Hannah Nuttall did well to qualify. I thought she would have enough provided the race didn't go down to 14:30. She can always find a reasonable last lap. Top 10 in the final would be a good finish for her

I’ll be cheering for her as well. She’s the US 5k champion and has a good chance of medaling. Looked great in the heats

Claiming that the Eastern European teams from the 70s and 80s are entitled to a presumption of innocence when there are well-documented paper trails of state-sponsored doping is just fatuous know-nothingness. Any record from a Soviet-bloc athlete from 1975-1988 is 100% dirty.
