I pay more attention to the wind, and it looks to be a little bit more windy than normal, based on various weather services. I sure hope the AccuWeather forecast is wrong, as they have Sat night wind at 12MPH, with gusts up to 24MPH. But AccuWeather usually has slightly higher wind predictions than other services.

Yeah, but at least its supposed to be a northwest wind right now. Could be a south wind.
800: Toss-up between L'Mio Edwards and Keaton Robar. Until last Saturday I would pick Edwards but Robar has been on FIRE as of late, I wouldn't be surprised if she breaks 2:05 this weekend.
1600: Is this even a question? Sub 4:28 is on the table honestly if Sadie decides to go all out. However she could just run it easy as to save up for Festival of Miles and that other meet in the Midwest she's running next week.
3200: Ugly toss-up. Jaelyn Williams is my tentative pick but Rylee Blade, Holly Barker, Chiara Dailey, and Maya DeBrouwer have all run sub 10:10 and could all probably put some pressure in the last 800 and give Williams a run for her money. Blade in particular has won the past 3 CIF rounds-there's a good chance that she could win her third state title on Saturday. (I'M NOT WADING INTO THE YOU-KNOW-WHAT CESSPOOL OF A DEBATE AND NEITHER SHOULD ANYONE ELSE IN THIS THREAD)
I think Robar is gonna take it. An obviously very patient schedule looks like it is paying off.
Williams is gonna take it in the 3200. Barker is unhealthy and I don't think anyone else is seriously in contention right now.
200: Brandon Arrington 20.5ish (based off his times he should be a low 46 runner, not doing the 100)
400: Ricks 47.3 but this one is honestly a tossup. It's always a battle between someone from Poly or Wilson, someone from norcal, and whoever goes 46 at masters
800: Bodi either 1:49L or 1:52 depending on the weather
1600: Tossup between fasthorse and dybdahl. If the pace is fast then fasthorse, if its a kickers race then dybdahl.
3200: Noonan 8:43 but lets see how everyone looks at masters
4x100: Yeah, looks like their anchor Martin DNF'd at league finals. That is very unfortunate since I think they had a real shot at going under 40. I think De La Salle takes it then, 40.8ish
4x400: Wilson does NOT mess around when it comes to the 4x400
4x800 (I care!!!): San Clemente, Wilson dark horse but a 4x400 4x800 double is gonna be tough for sure

3200 Parra doubled at Masters and he's dropping the 1600. Noonan ran Masters fresh and closed out with a 55 on his final lap. Parra still ran a 56 final lap and led the whole race. I give the edge to Parra if he runs it fresh. Also expect Bell to be in it since he did very well at Arcadia.

Barker unhealthy? If she was unhealthy she wouldn't have qualified. More than likely she's just having a down week. If I recall she narrowly beat out Jaelyn Williams at Arcadia.

Parra is likely dipping in the 8:30s without that 1600 if he scratches. He looks very good right now.

You don’t get to give a kid 8 seconds off his season best just because he doubled. Especially in a race he got beat.
Is Parra capable of 8:3x.xx? Possibly. But to call it “likely” deeply discounts the difficulty of the task.
To put it more bluntly, there is a veritable chasm between 8:47 and 8:39 that doesn’t get bridged because you say so.

I mean, that's not his fault. CIF needs to balance the sections! He showed up on the day and got the job done. I'm curious if he'll do anything big in the finals or if that was all he had. Either way, it's great to get such a big PR at a meet where it matters!
Who is Miles Jones from Oakland Tech and where did he come from? I can't remember the last time an Oakland Section athlete made a boys 1600m final!
If you go back on this board to after the Cal state XC champs in 2023, he was one of my call outs for coming out of nowhere running 15:44 after having nothing remotely similar in his previous two years of XC. But it wasn't truly out of nowhere, as he ran 4:21 for 1600m his previous track season in 10th grade. Seems like he has been struggling to get a consistent training/racing block for a while, but it is coming together again now.
Yeah, another thread talked about this, it's ridiculous. We're gonna send a kid who's never broken 4:30 to state just because he lives in Oakland, but not the kid from LA who runs a 4:08?
Look disgusting, The Oaklabd section champ does not go to the state meet unless they hit a qualifying standard. That is why in many events the send NO ONE.
AND Jones who ran 4:12 today and made finals ran 4:17 to win league last week by himself.

coaching i assume. football might have had something to do with it. he got injured at the end of last year and it seems like something happened in the helix team because they went from team state champ contenders to sending almost no one
