Former national security adviser John Bolton told The Washington Post Friday that he thinks former president Donald Trump would have pulled the United States out of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization had he been reelected in 2020.

Bolton, in an interview with Post opinions editor at large Michael Duffy, said the former president came close to pulling the United States out of NATO in 2018, a claim he originally made in a memoir published in 2020. In his book, Bolton wrote that he had to convince Trump not to quit NATO in the middle of a 2018 summit.
Based. His Nato cricism in 2018 was on point. Would have been nice if they had built up their defenses a bit more so we wouldn't have had to bail them out.

A guy who tried to rob a bank made a good point that they ought to give higher interest rates on their savings accounts. Let’s ignore that armed robbery thing.
And since it’s Trump, there’s a very good chance that some or all of the criticisms that he made at that particular time were stupid/bad, AS WELL.
Put another way, and more specifically, threatening to pull out of NATO is in NO WAY justified or excused because some advisor told you that most of the members don’t spend as much on defense as they’re supposed to. And make no mistake, some advisor DID have to tell him that, because he was massively more ignorant about things than any POTUS ever should be.

But his policies were good.
Why shouldn't we threaten to pull out of Nato if they refuse to pull their weight?
By your logic, all Nato countries could abolish their militaries, and we'd still be obligated to start WW3 over Estonia's independence.
Always be prepared to walk away from the negotiating table - Art of the Deal.
And yeah I know he didn't write that book but it's still good advice.

It's safe to say trump has never read that book, or any other.
Jesus Christ, the check has the date, amount, recipient, cashee, MICR number, ACH number, Route number, embolden relief, and vestigial watermark. What the hell else do you people want on an evidentiary scale? The Georgian Bible itself would not be enough for you types.
Sounds like you have evidence to impeach. Be our hero and do something about it because your party of clowns can't do anything right. You're literally handing them Biden on a plate and they won't take it. Odd huh?
Republicans want a world without war. Ukraine only gets invaded with Biden and Obama in office (this is due to their failed nation building attempts in Ukrainian politics). Their pro-Iran leanings similarly helped to destabilize the Middle East. It’s why so many retired generals turned arms dealers helped Biden get elected after Trump refused to enter into war during his tenure.
In a weird way, it might be kind of interesting to live in your fantasy land.
Right, we'd be too stupid to even feel embarrassed. Ignorance is bliss.
Remember that even as war blazes in Europe and the Middle East and China is pushing the envelope...the Republicans plan to take the US out of NATO if they win the WH next year.
Sleep well without any allies, gents.
We really need to clean up our own streets instead of acting as the world police! And by clean, I mean clean. Able to eat off of

Over 80 percent of four-star officers who retired after June 2018 went to work for the arms industry as board members, advisors, executives, consultants, lobbyists, or members of financial institutions that invest in the defe...
A group of more than 100 retired United States military leaders signed an open letter on Thursday from the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs calling on President Joe Biden

Trump could meet Russian officers in the Oval Office and give them classified information and you guys wouldn’t care. oh right he actually did that and no you don’t care.

Why would he read The Art of the Deal? He wrote it!! Just like many movie actors don't watch the movies they made Trump has no reason to read his masterpiece. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel come out.

To graduate at the top of your class at Wharton, I believe you might have to read a few books.

Trump has repeatedly claimed (and allowed media outlets to report on his behalf) that he graduated ‘first in his class’ from the Wharton School at Penn. In fact, he wasn’t close—Trump graduated without honors. Some schools base honors on GPA percentile, but Wharton bases them simply on GPA, which means that in order to graduate without honors, his GPA had to have been less than a 3.40—or else that he was sanctioned for academic integrity or student conduct violations.

They got two wars to sell arms to during Biden’s tenure thus far. And you can’t deny Biden and Obama’s efforts to court Iran (have you already forgotten about the planes loaded with pallets of cash, the $6 billion South Korean payment they freed up or Kerry’s visits to Iran during Trump’s presidency?). Nor can you dispute their interference in Ukrainian politics.
Trump lives in his own narcissistic world. His mind wanders randomly and he thinks of basic things like a 12 year old. Then he imagines that the things he thought up are brilliant and original. But they are nothing of that sort.
But here is the kicker! Grown men and women actually show up and listen to his inane ramblings off the top of his head and believe he is smart and a great potential President again.
i give you exhibit A:
“Trump: I'm for us. You know how you spell us, right? U.S. I just picked that up. Has anyone ever thought of that before? I'm reading and said us. You know, when you think about it, us, equals U.S. If we think of something genius, they will never say it.”
