As a High school coach Birrens fastest guy ran 17:30, and the fastest girl ran 22:17... For 5K!
Fastest guy ran 5:06 for the 1600m and 8:09 was the fastest female time for the 1600.

My bad for submitting without content previously.
Maybe this particular coach is a bad example of a VA that can coach. But to think that a VA can't, in my opinion is pretty ignorant. Those that can are probably not VAs for very long. The others who remain VAs are those that haven't the desire to deal with all the bullshit that coaches are subjected to.
The admin team at Fresno State is not very bright, fast or even care about track/XC. Head coach announcement will be out sometime this week.
