Actually, maybe he should. He probably has a better chance of winning the Republican primary than the Democratic one at this point. Being indicted has become a budge of honor for Republicans and he can claim to be a victim of weaponized DOJ.

this gets into some complicated statistics issues.
some of the issue is size/groupings/statistics...the african american population is suffering some of the same lower life-span issues as republican whites in trumplandia, yes. But african americans are just a small portion of urban populations. Whereas republican whites in trumplandia are virtually everyone. So problems in the black population are outweighed by other groups so overall things are better. There is no similar 'larger' group to outweigh republican white higher mortality.
and also, the lifespan gap between blacks and whites has been closing for decades.
But stats like these are complicated, very complicated.

It really is quite simple. It is a thirst for power and money. When the GOP realized that democracy was no longer the vehicle they could drive to keep power and money it needed to be eliminated, bypassed or cheated. Everything they do is to discredit democracy and to make voters believe it isn't worth the effort anyway.

Asians and Hispanics (whose share of the population increased the most) have longer life expectancies. Whites and blacks (whose share of the population declined the most) have shorter life expectancies. It’s simple math.
Sure, it is foolish for people to smoke, drink and drive without a seatbelt. But it is likewise foolish for people to smoke weed, live on the streets, have open air drug markets, etc., but California seems to be embracing those policies now. With an economic collapse on the horizon, I would expect life expectancies in the golden state to fall off precipitously, as the wealthy are moving out and the homeless are moving in, they will be hard pressed to continue their giveaways.
