So what do the Dems do this week when the House votes to kick out McC or not? The usual path would be for every D to vote no to McC....but maybe in this case there is an argument for the Ds to extract concessions from McC and then support him.
Dems in general want bipartisan legislation. They are in DC to govern and pass bills and help Americans, not just obstruct and say no to everything. Dems also want to sideline the freedumb caucus.
I'm not predicting some kind of power sharing solution here but sure would be great if it happened. Imagine having the middle 70% of the House shake hands and say 'you know what - we can pass bipartisan legislation and just push aside the squad and the freedom caucus.
That said, most likely the Ds will all vote against McC and the House will be thrown into chaos week after week as the freedumb caucus tries to burn it all down again.
This is peak 🍿 time!
In the M@@GA corner is Matt the pedo Gaetz leading the minority anarchist charge because $$$ and attention.
In the RINO corner is Kevin missing spine McQarty who is a walking contradiction - publicly worshipping the orange calf while at the same time wanting to be an adult.
And in the middle of the GQP are a vast majority of House and Senate Rs who await the inevitable collapse of the circus. They repeat trumpian trigger words all day to keep the salivating base interested for just a little longer while in their wealthy donors' interest they keep pillaging their states and worsening life for their constituents. They feel powerless, and they are... for here are their choices:
1) Ride the Trump train into another terrible loss and keep prolonging the collapse. Trump and responsible governance are not compatible and there simply are no policies left to sell under that model. This is the path they remain on.
2) Go through a nasty but quick and assertive divorce from Trump. This would certainly mean brutal losses across the Senate and House - perhaps taking them a decade to fully recover if at all. They would be effectively telling their base of angry brainwashed hopefuls "sorry but we used you". In all likelihood this would be the start of a mass reset in party identity. But how would they win back those irretrievably lost voters? Lolz...
There is a price that must be paid for the decades of lying, gaslighting and trolling of gullible rural folks. The people lose the most in all of this.
The question is what comes after trump, McQarty and McQonnel? What will what's left of the party look like in 5-10 years?
Woman at Trump rally is asked why she wants him back as president: “We want him to get his good financials going again .. and some good morales and patriotism.”

These types used to remain quiet and were thought to be lower in numbers. Of course there is extreme stupidity and ignorance on both sides, but some common sense is still prevailing on the left, for now. Put differently, trumpism also sucked in some independents who used to vote D and thus it became a magnet for deplorables.
I never thought I'd see the really ugly hateful side of the right stay out so confidently like this, but I also know these are people who are more biologically wired to respond to fear this way than others.
One proud poster here claims the M@@ga movement is just starting and is bigger than we all could imagine. This is what happens when people become so disillusioned and invested in lies - they disconnect from a fundamental sense of reality and are unable to ground themselves again.
The reason I remain confident we are witnessing the slow death of this trumpist mania is 2 fold:
1) The die hards are too emotionally fragile. I witnessed this first-hand in 2020 when I became a disguised activist during the GA senate races. A local liberal acquaintance and I easily infiltrated a group of rabid trumpers.. after some very basic online engagement over the course of 3 days, we managed to convince most of them to abstain from voting in the senate race "in protest of the GOP turning their back on Trump the rightful winner". These folks then held massive protests calling for the same. We all know what happened next. In short, the orange kool aid has an expiration date and already too many supporters have moved on to the next great idea that will solve all their personal problems and fuel their fake outrage.
2) For the mass cooperation required to sustain political victories you need a powerful imagined reality that is backed up by real results, instead of just a popular figure. Trump is now a proven loser who couldn't formulate a substantive strategy and convince centrists to jump on his train, and he continues to double down on the same tactics. Meanwhile, the political parties will continue to be effective in driving public discourse. The GOP was already barely hanging in there, relying more and more on local gerrymandering and finger-pointing to keep voters interested. Just look at the popular vote results over the last 20 years. Now they are stuck in a forever divorce with a very uncertain future.
J6 was a sign that the only way trumpism can remain viable is through violence and anarchism. Except for these dozen or so corrupt attention wh0res in the R House, the fully committed mouth breathers don't have any leadership to organize a bigger and more effective violent uprising.
As a result, enjoy seeing much more losing on the right. 🍿 🇺🇸 🤠
The leader of the Republican Party has another trial starting today. Ho hum. Totally normal.
The trial’s focus was narrowed to determine whether criminal conduct including falsification of records and insurance fraud was part of the overall scheme. The case is entirely civil, however, and even if the judge finds that crimes were committed he cannot order anyone to go to prison.

I want him back. Although he didn't originally come up with the idea, his tax cuts saved me close to $50000 per year. I also like that he appointed great justices who ruled against affirmative action.

If you don't understand that scores of millions of Americans share her sentiments--and don't work to get out the votes to counteract them--you are in for a rude awakening in 13 months' time.
Lest we forget: The median household income for Trump voters in 2016 was higher than that for Clinton voters. Trumpers believe they have a hella lot to lose and are motivated to vote accordingly. (Condescension? Not as motivating for Dems.)

have to be careful - those data are 7 years old, and things are changing fast as m'aga takes over the R party and - especially - women flee it. Rural voters are poorer than urban voters and that's the trump divide, and it is increasing.
for example:
Democrats are the party of the wealthy, a flip from decades ago when it was the party of the poor and middle class. Democrats represented 65% of taxpayers with a household income of $500,000 or more in 2020, according to IRS data, while 74% of taxpayers in Republican districts have household incomes of less than $100,000. In 1993, the dynamic was reversed, with the typical Republican congressional district showing it was 14% wealthier than its Democratic counterpart. In 2020, data shows those Republican districts were now 13% poorer.
Justice Thomas has to recuse himself because he and his family were knee-deep in the insurrection and his wife was a leader of it.
Kyle Cheney @kyledcheney BREAKING: The Supreme Court has *denied* John Eastman's effort to vacate the court rulings that resulted in his emails going to the Jan. 6 select committee. Most notable? Clarence Thomas (the subject of some key Eastman emails) recused.
