Electrons cost about a penny per mile. At $3 per gallon, a gas car costs ten times as much.

Last week an internal memo stated that Tesla already sold out its capacity for the second quarter. And that was before the Colonial Pipeline hack.
If you try to order a Mustang Mach E there is no telling when you might actually get your car. They don't have the parts and capacity to make enough of them.
Demand for EVs was already sky high before all of this. This is why the jobs and infrastructure bill must pass with new charging infrastructure, battery research, and other provisions that make sure we are headed for a clean, efficient, and economical future.
Any EVs on a used car lot will be gone soon.
And of course American car manufacturers stopped making most sedans to focus on SUVs again.
Chevy got rid of the Cruze and Impala.
Buck got rid of the regal, Lacross and Verano. They only have SUVs.

Leading up to 2008 they went away from cars and focused on SUVs.

to be fair, it really depends on inflation.
In theory, if inflation really perks up, the Fed would have to do a surprise rate rise.
Which would hurt a lot of people.
(but help others, such as savers and banks)
The balance is that 6% economic growth is very good, but when a car starts going fast, it gets harder to control.
Cyber vulnerability was identified early in the Trump administration. He of course ignored our intelligence agencies and did nothing about it. There should have been a huge investment into cyber security but Trump did nothing. The fact that many of these threats came from Russia further encouraged Trump to deny and do nothing.
This gas crisis is on Trump.
