How would you feel if you were on Eau Claire's team (maybe pretend you're one of the top sprinters) and you knew going into conference your team had no shot at the team title mostly because your 3 national caliber distance runners are choosing to take this weekend off because they're too tired from last weekend? Personally I don't think that would sit real well with me. Conference is the one (or two if you count indoors) meet of the year where the entire team comes together with the goal of doing as well as possible as a team. Those guys should be team players and run something. A 1500 or 5K this weekend wouldn't kill them.
