Right, ditching a great school that had him at 4:11, that has had a historically good program, and has sent kids to state in track and/or XC almost every year?
But surely, the private school that recruits and takes all those talented athletes away from their public home schools is just “better,” right?
Wait, you’re still accusing JHS of actively recruiting? Haven’t we addressed this before and shut it down when you failed to offer even a modicum of evidence? And if you think Bilodeau ended up Jesuit solely for their running program, you’re way behind the times, my friend. Just ask anyone at GB. Now if you’re upset about JHS, just wait until the other private schools in the area announce their fall xc rosters…
I have literally seen private school coaches invite athletes to their houses to host dinners with them and talk them into coming out for their team. For any sport.
Not just Jesuit, but private schools statewide. I have connections with coaches all over Sac and Bay Area. People just turn a blind eye.
They changed it after the race in the 3200 from 24 qualifiers to 32 because of the inconsistent information.
That's great to hear, I think 32 is a fair amount for a 3200. Definitely a huge relief for those 12 kiddos as well
San Diego Section is allowing only 18 runners into the 1600 and 3200 at Sectionals (aka Masters). I'm not sure why so few. They allowed 25-27 in those races at Divisionals. Boo!

GB Coach that wasn't the question. The question was about Jesuit. Did you see Jesuit Track and Cross Country coaches invite athletes to their houses for dinners with them and talk them into coming to Jesuit? Maybe your "connections" told you this happened?

EVERY private school does it. Jesuit is no different. It’s the whole reason why there’s so much debate over the fairness of private schools competing amongst public schools.
Like it or not, at the end of the day, private schools are pay-to-win. The way they attain athletes ultimately doesn’t matter. Either they recruit, or some rich kid wants to ditch his public school because his parents have money to afford it, it’s all the same…

Yes and GB is just a bunch of poor kids just barely getting by. Talk about privilege. Look in the mirror.
Maybe Jesuit can live up to it's moral code and only take students within normal school boundaries.
Not sure you know this or not but a lot of public schools have kids from outside their boundaries.
This true. But each public school is in a school district. Most, if not all school districts have open enrollment. Open enrollment means you can attend any school in the district.
So if you live in school A's boundaries you can attend school D in the same district.
I have posted this numerous times and people still don't get it. The reason this is done is because some schools offer special programs that others do not.

Explain to me how accepting kids from other areas is immoral. What rule, statute, law, or ethical boundary is crossed by wanting more kids to attend their particular school?
There’s also a big difference between coaches or admin recruiting and parents and athletes recruiting. Neither are allowed per CIF but I don’t think we consider them the same thing. Right?
Aaron Cantu, Jayden Hernandez, and Christian Simone all went to schools wayyyy outside their school district lol. I’m pretty sure the Ventura County School Distract doesn’t encompass all the way to Santa Clarita nor do I doubt that Temecula and Dana Point’s school distract extends all the way to LA, Ventura County, and Santa Ana respectively
SS Masters meet is impressive so far. 8 girls in 1600 advance to state. 14 of 18 in the 800 advance to state. Men also advance more than allotted 6. Last advance ran 4:11.72. The first one out was 4:11.79. The at-large time is 4:11.75. Elation and heart break in the hundreds of a second.
Can't wait for the rest of the States section finals.
