Hocker hugging the rail and slipping through on the left on the final straightaway is his signature, it’s crazy he wasn’t blocked. I’m not really sure what else Jakob could have done, because he was never going to out kick Kerr and Hocker, but you can’t lead wire to wire a 3:27 race and have enough left to out kick these guys. Really happy for Nuguse. Feel bad for Kessler but he should be so stoked for himself. He looked great out there.
will be interested to hear Jakob interviews after this. will he admit that the world has leveled up, and his job is and will remain harder than ever? His demeanor seemed okay after the race. i am impressed by the sportsmanship of most of these guys.
Honestly I think he'll double down. But hopefully he watches some El G tape.
Quadruple down?
Emmulating El G in all the wrong ways
Maybe he'll get caught unlike the comparison (I love this sport but we all know it's long breached a threshhold where the body needs some help to get to such extreme levels)

Kessler ran a PR in an Olympic final. His first sub 3:30. Nothing to feel bad about at all. Excited to see him in the 800.
If you asked me if I wanted to be Jakob (Gold 2020 - 4th 2024), Kerr (Bronze 2020, Silver 2024), or Hocker (6th 2020 - Gold 2024), I'd pick Hocker any day. And then Jakob frankly. While Josh did improve, I think one gold medal will always beat 2 of any other color.
I wanted to say that goose dug deep in that 1500 — some people on here were of the opinion that you’ve gotta be arrogant off that track, or confrontational — “oh, y’gotta have the dog in you.”
Well, no. Goose dug deep, got a medal, and STILL gets to go home and play with his turtle. Leaves the arrogance to others. Does it his way.

Jakob was focused on Kerr and was sliding to his right forcing Kerr to go outside to pass him. But that left the inside open and Jakob ended up getting passed by both men. But I understand his strategy. He looked at Kerr as the main rival.

anything but gold is almost irrelevant to jakob. this is an easy call.
