I have it on good authority that she adopted the lydiard approach and has been logging 130 mile zone 2 weeks to improve her speed
World Athletics and even the olympics need to adjust the qualification standards. I shouldn't be watching people 3 seconds off the pace in a 100m or people getting lapped in the 5000m and 10000m. These are supposed to be the best of the best. If you don't have a big enough field then make the event smaller.

Countries that don't have any qualifiers in the whole championships get to send one athlete. Typically this is in the 100m. It's a nice thing to do to expand the reach of the sport and affects nobody.

I think they could change the format. Run the prelims after the heats and allow them to be in contention to go through as fastest losers.
