what exactly do you think can happen differently when people arrive at the border and ask for asylum.
Literally, what do you think the US can do differently, according to the laws passed by Congress? Do you have any idea what this country's laws require it to do when people ask for asylum?
How you enforce the law and the standards you apply make a huge difference in how many people show up in the first place. It’s why we went from under 650,000 encounters in Trump’s last year to 2.8 million and counting in the current year. Ask NYC, Chicago, etc. if you think the Biden approach is working.

COVID is why we had a very low number of encounters in 2020. Until you acknowledge that, you are just being foolish or ignorant and not worthy of discussion.
Obviously, the current system is not working, no. But the laws of congress demand that if someone asks for asylum, they get a hearing, not turned away. You seem to be either ignorant of that or hoping no one brings it up. The federal government, under a Dem admin, has to follow the law. It can't just refuse people asking for asylum.
If a person arrives on US soil and claims asylum, does the US have to deal with their claim under international law? Yes. Not only does the US have an international legal obligation to do so, based on the requirement of complying with the object and purpose of the 1951 Refugee Convention, and implementing legal obligations in good faith, it has an obligation to do so under its own domestic law. The executive order cannot displace domestic legal obligations. So those who, with great difficulty, manage to reach the US will have to have their asylum claims examined. The duty not to return a person to a state where they may face torture or other serious harms is absolute under the UN’s Convention Against Torture. The US has signed and ratified this convention.
If you need a reason to laugh at Republicans and soft polls, here it is. A vastly larger number of people think Trump is a man of faith, compared to Mitt Romney. And a majority of GOPers THINK DONALD J TRUMP IS PERSON OF FAITH. DJT is a lot of things. A man of faith, he is not.
The rubeness is just so enormous I do not know where to start.
Daniel Cox @dcoxpolls Believe the following political figure is a "person of faith"... Among Republicans Mitt Romney: 35% Donald Trump: 53%

Trump had about the same number in 2018. Biden, on the other hand, has been setting records. For you to defend Biden on this issue simply demonstrates how out of touch with reality you are.

Regardless of how people feel about Trump personally, it is an undeniable fact that Trump accomplished more meaningful action for people of faith in his four years than Romney did in his entire career. Don’t get me wrong, I like Romney. I find it a little weird that he grew up in Mexico on an FCLDS compound where people practiced plural marriage, but overall his is an honorable man, as are most Mormons I know.

And ICE under Biden is not evicting those who do not show up for their asylum hearings or whose asylum claims are not merited. Asylum is for those facing persecution, not for those who are simply poor.
ICE has been stripped of authority under Biden and CBP has become an ad hoc welcome wagon. Make threats that matter.

Wow. If yout want to get a taste into how deranged and lost the Trump cult is I invite you from time to time to drop into the comments sections in different areas. I assumed that most sane people realized that Trump attacking Miley was just another indication of Trump's unfitness for office or power ever again. But that is not the case for Trumpers. These guys are 100% all in on the belief that a man that has served his country for his entire life needs to be put to death. And if the military won't prosecute him then they need vigilante justice. Seriously.
These insane cult members believe every right wing spin or story Trump tells them 100%. And when trump uses statements like... "this needs to be stopped immediately" when attacking "totally deranged" judges, prosecutors and political opponents, all it takes is one of his red cap wearing incel mouth breathing nutjobs with their weapons to kill someone. And Trump totally wants that to happen. He was totally OK with them killing Mike Pence.
For those that are still trying to normalize Trump and claim that Trump is just being Trump and saying funny things that amuse you, you need to ask yourself why you do that for this one guy and this one guy alone.

What? Childhood poverty doubled under Biden. That's a fact. I posted a video on it.
None of this explains your screed. The MSM? I think you need help

They can be detained for crossing illegally.
my dude. It's not illegal to cross the border and ask for asylum. It's just not. Your entire defense falls apart.
The Biden admin actually tried to do that - to stop asylum seekers from being allowed into the country but US courts banned the practice, saying it was illegal. So the Biden admin's hands are tied. We have to allow asylum seekers in and give them a hearing.
Boy does this *again* prove that you do not know the facts of the cases but just spout off.

This might be lost on you so I will explain. Often times, posters will skip over whatever topic you might be posting about. In fact, a good portion of posters will not read anything you post. Your views are fully known because they get repeated dozens of times each day. In fact, one can easily know all your views by simply jumping into any right wing youtube vloggers channel. Or Charlie Kirk. Or Steve Bannon. Etc. Etc. Your thoughts are most certainly not original.
So please don't be surprised when a post that follows yours has nothing to do with what you are posting about. It is not necessary that we respond to you. We may well be communicating to others.

Agip - are you nuts? Of course it is illegal to cross the border without permission. It is called improper entry. Now, once here you can legally seek aslyum. But crossing the border without permission is illegal.
Name one country in the world that allows people to cross their border and enter the country without permission. NONE.

We will start booting them back to the other side where they belong soon enough. Cutting in line is a no no in America. #m^gaontheway

Have you read anything about the laws on asylum? Go google ‘is it legal to cross the border and ask for asylum.’

Can I Still Apply for Asylum Even if I Am in the United States Illegally? Yes. You may apply for asylum with USCIS regardless of your immigration status if: You are not currently in removal proceedings You file an asylum application within 1 year of arriving to the United States or demonstrate that you are within an exception to that rule.

Asylum seekers who arrive at a U.S. port of entry or enter the United States without inspection generally must apply through the defensive or expedited asylum processes. All three application processes require the asylum seeker to be physically present in the United States or at a port of entry.I
Unlike many other categories of applicants for immigration benefits, people seeking asylum in the U.S. are not barred by having made an illegal entry; for example, by having snuck across the U.S. border. Huge numbers of past asylum applicants found that entering the U.S. without permission was their only or best way to get to safety and flee the persecution they faced at home.
The language of the Immigration and Nationality Act says "any alien" can apply for asylum if "physically present in the United States . . . irrespective of such alien's status." (See I.N.A. Section 208(a).)
