They develop individuals sometimes. They had a 10k girl and a 1500m guy with good development. If a kid wants to stay in SoCal and can’t go to UCLA, their best option is now Fullerton. They have come a long way and develop people good. I ran on the program not that long ago and I am glad Kear applied and not Tebbe. They need to keep the ball rolling over there.

According to this forum, years of experience is the only determination of quality when it comes to coaching. So good coaches are only old guys, preferably with an alcohol problem or a history of inappropriate relationships with athletes, but that is not required. Training philosophy, work ethic, recruiting and fundraising ability do not matter and neither do results. The only thing that matters is how long you have been coaching.
Oh and that you're not a woman, or a minority.

Going through this thread every year reminds me how glad I am that I chose not to coach in the NCAA. Basically an entire industry that plays musical chairs every few years.

It is good to see so many women getting into the profession. I think that this is going to improve the level of coaching overall. Now there is far more competition for the jobs. Coaches in the profession have to work even harder to produce and continue to move up or to break into the industry.
You can always make the argument that there are more qualified people than each of the hires. If all schools did was hire the person with the longest resume, where would we be? The importance of making a great hire is to find someone that is going to be the best fit for the job not just the most qualified. Not all qualifications can be, or need to be, quantified.
Bottom line is that coaching cross country and track used to be a Boys Only Club. No Girls Allowed. Now, it is opened up. If that means everyone has to step up their game, recruit harder, work harder, be open to new ideas and training, be more compassionate, be more visible, well....then that is what it means.
From a comfortable chair on the beach....

Maybe you're not getting coaching jobs, that include coaching women, because you refer to women as "bimbo['s]" per your username. Maybe AD's would rather have a bimbo than a chauvinist.
when these coaches move on is there some sort of exit interview or handover
do they pass on recruiting information/contacts for the existing - often interim coaches to utilize
Have been on 6 unofficial visits this summer - all with some not insignificant degree of travel and expense and in 3 of the 6 (thus far) there has since been coaching upheaval
all of the coaches have moved on for better opportunities so I'm happy for them - but feel like I'm starting over
Whats the issue? She was a great runner AT UCONN, she volunteered at a P5 and assisted at a mid major. Now she gets to head up another mid major. Whats wrong with this? Am I missing something?
