Plus if you are really an athlete and really concerned about the CARDINAL...call JJ introduce yourself, welcome him, and ask if there is anything you could do to help! That is an interesting/lazy hire; no head coaching experience, not any standout performances....I’m pretty sure they didn’t even bother doing a search there. If you wanted to go sprints and jumps I’m sure they’re a lot of coaching lining up for that chance.
Time will tell but look at results wasn’t like his group was doing that well, not that any group there was. You have your chance now coach better make the most of it.

What did you expect? Their previous head coach left to be work under John Hayes at WF. She will be a second distance coach and won't even have her own event group. The situation and pay at PFW have to be really bad for someone to take that kind of cut in responsibility.
The UC Irvine cross country team was told yesterday that Casey Kear will be the new distance coach at the school. Kear was the second assistant coach over at Long Beach State. The track and field and cross country program at UC Irvine has really deteriorated since Vince O'Boyle retired a few years ago, and Jeff Perkins took over. I will take a wait and see attitude with this new hire at my alma mater.
Has SIUE filled their cross job yet?
And I don't think UCI's slide is on Chris Evens at all. He's a talented coach. It's hard to run a D1 program on less than 1 scholarship while getting paid 35k in Orange County. This is on a school and track coach that don't care about XC. Casey has an uphill battle!

The dude was only there for like 2 years tops, give him a break. Do you really expect them to be incredible in 2 years coming from a program like that? It's probably a solid hire, they're in a time crunch and needed to find leadership.

If your significant other makes bank, then yes it’s affordable... as a track coach alone though, not affordable. A quick google search will lay it all out for you, if you’re having a hard time understanding.

The truth is that when Vince O’Boyle retired, Jeff Perkins and Chris Evans were given their positions without a completely open interview process.
As a high school coach in the Orange County area, I do not recommend UCI to my athletes. Their record if developing athletes is not very good.
