I would never vote for Liz Cheney because of her policies, but she shares something with Democrats that is fundamental to a functioning democracy. She seems to care about or at least respect the truth. That’s part of any robust political foundation, and if Rs prefer to throw that out because they are too weak to step up and change, then we will become an autocracy. There can be no productive political discourse and process until there is broad mutual respect for the truth. Rs have gone off the rails. What we need is what we last saw being debated between Obama and Romney - a battle for attractive policies. Rs have abandoned that.
In how many recent elections have they lost the popular vote? 5 or 6? Those are not anomalies, they are a trend. Instead of working hard and honestly to attract new voters, they have scared their own into voting for them and suppressed votes for the opposition. They have no attractive policies and have completely abandoned what used to be core values they once openly identified with. Now you get cancelled for being a RINO. They have become a propaganda machine, fully embracing a strategy of undermining the truth.
Trump continues to be a useful idiot. Both he and the GOP think they are in control, when in fact they are just dragging down the whole country with them. Trump lost, fair and square and pretty fkn badly. Americans soundly rejected him - he was fkn fired hard. He’ll stick around for as long as he can grift, but there is only one reason for the GOP to continue following a stone cold loser who has no significant chance of running for POTUS again, let alone winning. And that reason is they continue to use him as a front for breaking down our democracy and hang on to power. They no longer have the numbers to win in fair elections.
Democrats need to step up the urgency with this. Americans should be very afraid of what we’re seeing on the right and get out and vote in huge numbers. The best solution is to deliver more losses to the GOP and cripple them completely.

I don't agree with most of what Cheney supports and the policies she promotes (she voted in favor of Trump's policies some 90% of the time). But I absolutely respect her for standing up for what is right and selling herself and her values simply to remain in power like Lidnsey Graham and Ted Cruz. She's the last of the REAL republicans. The party of Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan is dead.
