Straws.
So basically everyone who gets a coaching gig - is not a good coach / hire!
So letrun gurus - who are good coaches - who deserves the gig?

You know these trolls and never-have-beens have no clue who is a good coach. Most of them still think that Jack Daniels training and 100mpw is THE standard. They have not been recruited nor have they ran for a college more than 20 miles from their mom's basement. Nobody that runs college track wants to hear from these "gurus" that run local road races or peaked in High School.
Most of these hires are good and are chances to learn, grow, get better. Coaching isn't an overnight thing so kudos to the young coaches "earning their stripes" as they said earlier in the thread.

I agree. Many of these schools hire on situational issues. I won't deny some are not fair then others and we can all complain. Race, gender, locations, recruiting, etc. all come into play. Also its about who you know. I have been through several interviews where everything is different. And yea...there are many more philosophies then a Jack Daniels philosophy. Many schools have won XC championships not using the Daniels philosophy (I can be wrong...but I think North Central College is a prime example that does not use Jack Daniels and they won several NCAA D3 Championships and even beats out NCAA D1 schools) and many coaches use international philosophy over American philosophy for sprinters. You can be an All American, but if you can't recruit then you won't get the job. Or you can be the best recruiter in the world, but if you can't coach then you can't get the job. Other questions come into mind...1. Can you relate well with minorities? Can you relate well with whites (I was hired once from a school with the head coach asking me this during the interview)? Can you relate well with females? Can you relate well with other coaches? Every job opportunity is different. You just got to grind it out man.

Thanks Reading Comp,
Any word on a source for that? Sounds like a guess out of left field rather than real insider information.
Let me know

Who friggin cares?! Their men’s distance team is TRASH! As left by the “best thing since sliced bread coach” Ondrasek.
Even so there are plenty of people that would want to coach that area.
Any news on the Saginaw Valley State Job, Lake Superior State job?
