So you can't sleep, either. Where are the Letsrunetts who can't sleep, and are any of them impressed by the length of your post (that's a jab at me, not you, if that it isn't clear).
You are obviously very smart, and it's a pleasure to see your intellect on display as you reason through things. You also hate Trump with a white hot passion, and I'm going to try and change that view as many times as it takes.
Because you nailed it. Trump is an isolationist. He doesn't start wars and he loves taking credit for ending them. I'll anticipate a list of wars he has started. And, in case anyone forgets, here is one he did start:
* the war on boats moving very fast in international waters
Trump also has a lot of political acumen. He knows how to get people behind a cause, and he knows how to deal with his critics. He takes complex issues and divides them into two clearly-defined positions, and then races to stand on the side that gains him the most support. Yes, that doesn't include you. Nothing he does will ever please you. You know that, and he knows that. But he uses this technique, not to please his base, but to grow it.
Let's take the above-mentioned war on speedboats. If you say, "Well, these are extra-judicial killings that are unconstitutional!" as you, me, and Rand Paul do, you will be made to appear pro-drug. That isn't the position that any of us who feel that labeling an outgroup a "*-terrorist" (in this case, "narco-terrorist") hold. But there are many, many people in this country who do not care about those people and the people who love them. They hate drugs. They also probably have a medicine cabinet full of them. (And, this is probably beside the point, but the Constitution doesn't protect non-US citizens in international waters, and none of those related to the deceased have standing to settle their grievances in a way that will answer the question "Is this Constiutional?")
So, you can not like Trump. You can hate him, even. But please recognize that he is better at politics than most give him credit for.
Stop the presses! I just checked my non-existant DMs, and guess who has a date at the next "No Kings" rally? That's right...not me.
Your post reveals a huge flaw in democracy. It is not a new flaw but it is a flaw that has become painfully obvious since 2016. To win office in this country you need to be an effective politician. Some people would say an effective "liar and BS artist". Trump is definitely that.
The problem is that governing the country well needs skills and intelligence separate and distinct from being a BS artists. Unfortunately, I believe we will never have a leader again that has not perfected the art of shoveling BS out of their mouth and having the American voter accept it. American voters are incapable of demanding the skills to lead. They want to be entertained.
